On a fairly unrelated note, OP if you're interested in a good tower defense game I highly recommend X-Morph: Defense.
It shouldnt be and i think its the way of idiots not being able to come up with better solutions to problems, just to be clear on that.
But it is part of pretty much everything we do.
Im sorry but no one should be so blue eyed believing that colonizing mars wouldnt have any military meaning or consequence at all.
t has, a lot in fact.
Every science project you complete has a potential military use.
The placement of a colony on another planet or moon has a potential military use and meaning.
As does everything surrounding all of that have a meaning. Whether its used as propaganda ("we did it first" or "our hero of nation X accomplished goal Y") or simply to be used in diplomacy to pressure deals.
I think military at least could but maybe should be a part of the game.
Not necessarily something you have to focus around, but think about and consider.
The game already has partial aspects of that, so why not also have military conflicts.
In fact everything would potentially lead to a military conflict anyway. Unavoidable.
Colonizing mars and terraforming it comes instantly with the question of independency from earth.
Sadly people often identify with a nation. Its dumb, but many do. So obviously there would be people identifying with mars as their homeplanet and so demanding independency to feed their nationalistic view.
Actually the scenario depicted in The Expanse is a very likely scenario.
And history showed that similar scenarios already happened the same way.
Not every game was meant to appease you. If you want a military game, why are you playing a colony simulator that has never been advertised as anything but?
Looks like someone unlocked the straw man in the game.
Peaceful is the right word, but i'm falling asleep in the beginning before domes, also i between domes, the game neews more content.
mebe a militia/national guard ? (optional dlc)
Who needs to spend bazillions onna miltech when any fool w a wrench ora crossbow ora hatchet ora poison potion can kill a dome and most who sail in'er. what happens ifn sumbeatchn goofball blows a fuel refinery/depot or a fuelled shuttle on the pad.
So, mebe a buncha black ops units ? (optional dlc)
Yeah, you get it, Richon. But WK won't, because he just wants to argue for the sake of arguing. Pointing out that someone is trying to jam a square peg into a round hole is not a fallacy of any kind.
"ops" has a point (although i had a hard time figuring it out).
The game could certainly get a DLC focussing on special operations and information war using propaganda tools, providing espionage etc.
So more of a cold war scenario than a warfare scenario. Would fit the theme, not turn the game into something it isnt while also stepping up the tension a bit.
Also everything L-laine said sounds superb. And partially that already was my view on it aswell.
