Because you can't have your cake and eat it, too. I mean, it's like you buying a hamburger from Burger King but then wanting McDonald's to put their special sauce on it for free.
That's what I have.
Why would I want that when it would be easyer to simply download it from Steam?

Nah, it's like buying a burger at burger king, meanwhile there is some dude who hangs out in the McDonald's lobby and makes his own sauce and McDonalds does not pay him a single cent or help in any way making that sauce, and you come into McDonalds to ask for some of the sauce and McDonalds says, "NAH SCREW YOU YOU CAN'T GET THAT SAUCE HE MADE AND I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS IS MY STORE GET OUT!"
AKA it's Steam showing their inner Nintendo/Apple and leveraging their scumbag user agreement in bad faith against the consumer to try to protect their market.
