You're holding an angle in CS2. Someone on your team yells a callout — maybe in Mandarin, maybe in Japanese. You catch one word, maybe none. Two seconds later you're dead, and you both know exactly what went wrong.

We've been there. That's why we're building Unitra.

Unitra is a real-time voice translation tool for gamers. Your teammates speak their language. You read it on your screen, in yours — under a second after they say it.


We're a small team, and we play the games we're building for.

Shin (co-founder) is trilingual — Mandarin, English, Japanese — with 15+ years in high-intensity FPS: CS2, TF2, Overwatch. He's spent more hours than he'd like to admit being the bottleneck in his own squad. He hears the callout. He just can't get it out in the right language fast enough. Then somebody dies. Then it happens again.

Brandon (co-founder) is bilingual — Vietnamese and English — and lives in tactical shooters: Squad, Ready or Not, Bellum. Anyone who's run a coordinated op in Squad knows how much of the game is voice. Strip out the shared language, and the squad falls apart no matter how individually good the players are.

And it isn't just shooters. Drop into a VRChat lobby where half the room speaks a language you don't, and you can stand there nodding politely — or you can have an actual conversation. We want every player to have that second option.


Two things, more than anything else.

Privacy. Your raw audio never leaves your PC. Speech recognition runs locally on your machine. Only the resulting text gets translated in the cloud. We'll write a much more detailed post about exactly how this works in a few days.

Built for actual games. Low latency, lightweight, designed to live alongside your game the way Discord or OBS does — not fight with it. We want Unitra to be invisible until you need it.

We're starting with Mandarin, English, and Japanese at launch. More languages are on the roadmap.


Our Steam page is live. Downloads aren't — yet. We're not putting Unitra in your hands before it's good enough to make your sessions better, not worse. A closed beta is coming.
