Can you upgrade your ship with a huge range of parts?

I was reading the description of this game in the Steam store. I liked how it said that you could upgrade your ship with a huge range of parts, but was even more pleased to read further down that you can upgrade your ship with a huge range of parts. But can you upgrade your ship with a huge range of parts?

but how huge exactly is the range of parts with which you can upgrade your ship?

The Slots on the Ships you have is the Maximum. You can upgrade the Systems, Weapons and Rockets with Refiting them from the Storage. Mostly 1st and 2nd Generation expect the Interceptors don´t differnece so much in Systems-Slots, the 3rd and 4th Generation have more.

Thank God you got here. I've spent the past 9 years hoping I'd get additional confirmation on whether you can upgrade your ship with a huge range of parts in this game, and finally, I got it.

I have begunn playing that 3-Part-Storyline-Game (SW 1 to 3) shortly again after downloading the first 2 Games for the low Price. And after looking in the Froum here I saw your Question and try to Help.

I have played the first 2 Parts with the Boxed-Version very long time ago (Easy / Medium) and had some Parts of the Game still in Mind.
