In 1985 a programmer named Ian Bale vanished from a small software house in Sheffield. Forty years later, builders found a cassette tape hidden inside a wall. On it was a game that was never released.

This is that game.

ABYSS: The Shadows of Elder Cities is a first-person dungeon crawler drawn entirely in wireframe, the way a 48K Spectrum would have drawn it: thin lines on a black screen. The cities those lines describe are far older than the machine.

• THE SIGNAL – a five-chapter campaign across ancient cities and the desert between them

• DESCENT – a roguelike with 15 procedurally generated floors and one life

• 2UP – asymmetric versus for two players: Explorer against Overlord

You can't fight Mi-Go, Elder Things or Shoggoths. You can only avoid them, or find something worse and set it loose.

ABYSS launches in March 2027. Add it to your wishlist to be notified on release, and follow the game for development updates.
