Xbox One Controller Issue
Havent played the game in a couple of days load it up and the controller is playing up. Even of im not touching any sticks, the camera rotates up and down and even to the sides. Have tested the same controller in Assassins Creed Origins and the Witcher 3 and no issues.
Please help, Ive got four days off work and really want to sink some time into Wildlands. Don't know if its related, but the FPS counter has disappeared from all my games, was there some kind of steam update?
Thanks

Have the dead zone settings in options/controller somehow changed? I use the same controller myself and I haven't noticed any issues with it. Maybe try uninstalling the controller drivers from your PC and plugging it back in/turn it back on and let Windows redownload the drivers for it.

Thanks for the reply. Tried reinstalling the drivers no luck. For some reason wildlands thinks my xbox controller is a steam controller. Like all the button promps in the menus etc look different to how they used to. But in other games they are the same. Any more ideas?

Could maybe try this.

Particularly step 3, but I'd look through the whole guide anyway. It basically allows you to set up a controller profile for a specific game. It also allows you to identify, label and configure your connected controllers in general. I'm thinking if there's something going on with your controller and it isn't the drivers, you're going to find your answer somewhere in there.

No problem, let me know how it goes. As far as Steam updates, I don't recall there being any recently. Why you could play fine before, but now Steam/Wildlands thinks your Xbox controller is a Steam controller is really strange.

No luck. When I load the game in the menu the right stick on the controller moves a mouse cursor around, so somewhere something is all messed up. Im thinking thats why the camera goes crazy ingame, because the game thinks a mouse is moving. I don't get it, thanks for your help, just gonna have to play something else.

Just curious, do you use Big Picture to play normally? I was able to replicate what you experienced with the cursor being moved by the right joystick when I launched through BP. If you do use BP to normally play, launch BP, go to settings, controllers, make sure the detected controller is identified as an Xbox One controller and make sure all of the check boxes are unchecked besides "Guide button focuses Steam". Then try launching it. Doing that made it function as a controller again for me and it seemed like Wildlands thought it was an Xbox controller.

I never use big picture. First time ive ever opened it since this all started. In the settings it says xbox one controller, i unticked all boxes except 'guid button focuses steam' still the same. Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it

Ah ok, no problem. I've got some free time so I'll look around and see if I can find anything else that you can try.

Do you use your controller via the Microsoft wireless dongle or Bluetooth?

USB cable. Literally every other game i use a controller in works fine, this makes no sense

Steam just updated and now it is all back to normal and working. No idea what the hell happened. Thanks for helping me out insolent, appreciate it.
