Bullet Climax issue on gamepad

The controls in the tutorial show to rotate the left stick and press a button, but no matter how I do it, it doesn't work, she just moves to follow the direction of the stick. I had to switch to mouse and keyboard because i was unable to do that part of the tutorial on gamepad. Has anyone else had this issue? What am I doing wrong, and how can I fix this?

What control do you have?
I use a DS4, it seems simple but sometimes the command doesn't go in, that's why I rotate the stick twice and it comes out the first time.

I'm using a multi platform controller (xbox 360/ PC/ Android) it is being identified as an Xbox 360 controller in steam. I'll try what you said, see if that's the issue.

I think I figured out the issue, I had a controller with a bad control stick before I got this one. I checked the settings, and sure enough, the deadzone for the sticks on this one were still set to where I had them before, so I calibrated the control sticks, and it seems to work fine now
