PC or Switch?
I bought Bayonetta 2 on Switch today, which included a free code for the first game (on Switch unfortunately).

What do you guys think - should I play it on PC or on Switch? I'm leaning towards PC of course, with the increased frame rate, resolution etc. But since Bayonetta 2 is exclusive to Switch, I'm afraid that the extreme downgrade in performance and resolution on the Switch would be too big.

Maybe it's better to play the first game with the Switch's low resolution and frame rate, to make sure that the second game doesn't actually look and run worse than the first one (it might already, I don't know)?

It will not make much of an actual diffrence, so either play on the system you wish to.
But if you want to ger use to the play controls, maybe the switch version will suit you better as the controls will for the most part transfer over with no need to relearn

you could also sell your bayo 1 key for a little money (maybe)

Bayo on Switch is great and especially great option if you play it in handheld mode mostly. I have it as well and just noticed I haven't played the PC version much at all. Whatever rocks your boat but as you already have B2 which includes the download for B1 I don't see any reason to get the PC version. The visuals are not that much different at all and Switch version runs 60 fps as well. I personally like the Switch version a lot.

Double dipping is not a problem anyhow - just thinking I have now bought Bayonetta first on PS3 (I knew it was a disaster port) then changed to Xbox360 once I got that console, then Wii U, then PC and now Switch... Total 5 times.

At least it's a real game (just challenging playability) and not this AAA bullcrap cinematic press 'x' to win "experience" with endless DLC and lootboxes like most of the games these days are. Ubisoft these calls games now as a "service"...wtf is that about, does it make season passes more justified..?

I seriously don't think you'll be THAT hindered from playing Bayonetta 2 after experiencing Bayonetta 1 on the PC. Really, the only disadvantaged you'd have here is Bayonetta 2's severe lack of anti-aliasing, and if you can put up with that, you'll be fine.

I'd only recommend playing Bayonetta 1 on the Switch because you get the advantage of being able to use the bonus costumes, specifically the Link costume, because it enables you to counter/parry attacks without the need of equipping the Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa. Also, the Master Sword makes you immune to fire type enemies.

Still, it doesn't hurt to just simply enjoy Bayonetta 1 on both platforms. I double dipped on getting the PC version AND the Switch version because now I have more options to enjoy the game however I want to. 4K/SSAO/HDR visuals be damned.

Is the PC version good? i've been meaning to get it for a while (passed on it on PS3) but I was afraid it might be a crappy port

Yeah it is. It's nothing like the PS3 version of the game. It's more or less like the xbox360/Wii-U version.

The PC version follows the same code that was used for the Wii U version, which I'm not super fond of. The game lacks an actual surround sound support that the 360 version had (it's the only version of the game that supported Dolby Digital, which was dropped for the Wii U version since that console only used PCM direct audio). The color display on the Wii U version was also very washed out which is what ended up on the PC, unlike the 360 version which had better use of darker color tones and brightness. There are color mods to correct this, though some of them are a bit too extreme for my taste. Oh, there's also the Japanese language that was added in the Wii U version. The game never had a Japanese dub in its original 360 release, not even in the Japanese version.

Both play the same. But on the later stages the 720p resolution kinda shows better. At least im noticing some downgrade in visuals.

I see, I was worried it was a disaster like some other ports, but I'll give it a try, after I get make hackyslashy on in the DMC sale. Thanks!

you do know that PCM not only supports surround (as the wii u did) but is also a better soudn experince than dolby surround (pcm is not compressed like dolby)

so your pretty much full of bs

I didn't say it wasn't clear. I'm 100% aware that PCM is more clear. I should've been more thorough with this info though. On the 360 version of Bayonetta 1, the surround sound function worked incredibly well, with enemy sounds and environmental noises coming through their respective speakers based on their position from where Bayonetta is standing.

For the Wii U and PC version, the surround sound now only works with the music, The environmental noises along with enemy attacks only come through on the center, left and right speakers but NOT the back speakers. I've made tons of tests, tweaks and modifications to my receiver to see if it could've been just me, but no, the PC and Wii U version lacks proper surround support that the 360 version had.

So no, I'm not full of BS. Go and test it yourself and come back to me and see if you net any better results.

works fine for me

Well gee, that sure is some fine and dandy argument with detailed evidence right there.

just as much evidince as your bs gave honestly

your post amounted to saying "Didnt work for me" and then just complain that dolby logic II is filling in the surround since your setup probably does not even support LPCM properly
