As said before the controls are beyond ridiculous sometimes.
Or two-handed 4-finger (8-finger) tapping if you're good at typing (or piano) and can hit the same button every time.
You may be able to bind a button combo in Steam's setup to make that one button a rapid-fire option, but you may have to do it all crazy like. Both bumpers and left trigger or some crap, I dunno. Would be nice if you could assign a keyboard function key to toggle rapid-fire on/off.
1. Mash before the quick time event starts, this may kinda hurt, but you won't be missing precious seconds of mashing
2. Lock your elbow and flex your muscle between your wrist and elbow. Your hand should kinda twitch (not sure how healthy this is, but I've used it to beat all my friends at every button mashing Mario party minigame ever haha). Then hover your hand over the correct button. Make sure you are pressing down the button then releasing it with every twitch. My record of taps is 13 clicks per second average, but lately I'm a bit rusty and average around 10 per second and sometimes that wasn't even enough if I didn't start right as the Quick time event started. Hope that helps if that was what you were stuck on in your runs.
That said, it prevents you from being able to use the dpad for menu navigation, and I don't like that at all. I simply set an action layer that makes the face buttons turbo when I hold the left bumper down, since that's mapped to taunt, which never gets used simultaneously with the face buttons. May or may not get in the way of bracelet of time, but I never use that anyway, so it doesn't matter to me.
