Tips on button mashing.
When you need to get the maximum gigatons. I mash the buttons as fast as my old hands will let me but still can never get it to max.
Both with 360 and one pad.

On PC the QTEs are absolutely ridiculous to max, especially on hard-mode. My best tip would be to use Steam's custom-control thingy and bind the 4 d-pad buttons into the 4-face-buttons. So you can mash that as well as the face-buttons to double up. This will prevent you from "Quick using items", but you can't use items in this game anyway cause of how the ranks/scores work.

It's possible but incredibly hard. I only got it once or twice by mashing the right button from the very start - do not wait a millisecond and even then it merely increased your luck of maxing it out.

As said before the controls are beyond ridiculous sometimes.

Modify the controller so it can turbo, I have a ps4 one and I just need to put my finger on the tactil panel to do the qte.

If you're an old Metal Guitarist like myself, grab a pick and go Master Of Puppets on it. Or the rhythm to One under the solo. Works for me.

Or two-handed 4-finger (8-finger) tapping if you're good at typing (or piano) and can hit the same button every time.

You may be able to bind a button combo in Steam's setup to make that one button a rapid-fire option, but you may have to do it all crazy like. Both bumpers and left trigger or some crap, I dunno. Would be nice if you could assign a keyboard function key to toggle rapid-fire on/off.

Hi, I'm awful at Bayonetta XD, but great at button mashing. I recommend 2 things.

1. Mash before the quick time event starts, this may kinda hurt, but you won't be missing precious seconds of mashing

2. Lock your elbow and flex your muscle between your wrist and elbow. Your hand should kinda twitch (not sure how healthy this is, but I've used it to beat all my friends at every button mashing Mario party minigame ever haha). Then hover your hand over the correct button. Make sure you are pressing down the button then releasing it with every twitch. My record of taps is 13 clicks per second average, but lately I'm a bit rusty and average around 10 per second and sometimes that wasn't even enough if I didn't start right as the Quick time event started. Hope that helps if that was what you were stuck on in your runs.

There's a community config that binds all 4 face buttons to down on the dpad, which otherwise goes unused. And unlike some other games with mash QTEs, Bayonetta's don't make you fail if it detects the wrong button (except for the single-tap ones), so it works out nicely.

That said, it prevents you from being able to use the dpad for menu navigation, and I don't like that at all. I simply set an action layer that makes the face buttons turbo when I hold the left bumper down, since that's mapped to taunt, which never gets used simultaneously with the face buttons. May or may not get in the way of bracelet of time, but I never use that anyway, so it doesn't matter to me.
