I enjoy them all. I'd Like an X-box, but I wouldn't get much value out of it.
it's a game they enjoy. Big deal, if they have fun, then let them. IMO Cannot stand Dota/LOL, but if someone likes it, ok. No reason to lose sleep at night.
lmao speaking of Dota 2 Valve has announced a new game. It's a free-to-play "auto chess" clone called Dota Underlords. It's coming on Steam/Android/iOS. Valve was bragging how its going to be Epic and will support cross-platform with mobile. xD

They fund developers to make games in exchange for exclusivity, just like Nintendo did with Bayonetta.
Epic Games bring games to the PC, which is more than what Nintendo do.
Epic Games allow their exclusives to be released on rival platforms on the same day, unlike Nintendo.
And Epic exclusives are usually timed exclusives, they'll eventually make their way onto other PC gaming storefronts... unlike Nintendo exclusives which remain exclusive to Nintendo consoles FOREVER
Maybe, but my point is that it currently seems fashionable to bash Epic for doing what Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have been doing for years.
Personally, I think Epic are ahead of the curve. AFAIK Microsoft have already announced a download only XBOX. If every console goes download only, what's the point of consoles?
They might as well just be PlayStation and Nintendo storefronts on other devices (or release their games on Steam like what Microsoft have announced)
But, _of course_ Sony won't keep their exclusives just on their storefront! Neither woulkd Nintendo....
Because that would make them just like Epic... or at best, EA and Ubisoft...
your so funny.
You do realize PC is a open market right? It's not as restrictive as consoles. Anybody with a lot of money and resources can enter into the PC market and launch their service or sell their games as they like. Comparing Epic Games Store with other consoles is just bs. What Sony and Microsoft are doing is completely different. They invest billions into making consoles and even sell them at a loss initially. Sony/Microsoft have their own servers for online multiplayer. They advertise, hold press conferences, events like E3 for the games they publish.
I don't think Sony and Nintendo are gonna sell their games on PC anytime soon (mostly never). That's the point of consoles. People would continue to buy consoles because they're very cheaper than a PC with similar config. Playstation console for eg. is initially sold at a loss. Both, Nintendo and Sony are doing extremely well with their traditional gaming business.
This includes Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
Why?
How?
An investment and a loss that Epic, Valve, EA, Ubisoft, GOG, Itch etc aren't making.
In fact, Valve tried and failed at making their own console (or at least line of consoles) it was done on the same terms as the 3DO... and failed harder than the 3DO.
Because only Sony and Microsoft have press conferences at E3. Only Sony and Microsoft advertise, only Sony and Microsoft have their own servers, no other company does this. No other company will ever do this.
So you'll have no problem if Epic never sell their exclusives anywhere other than the Epic Games Store. After all, if it's OK for Sony and Nintendo to do it, why not Epic?
That point being? Why would a company continue to invest into and sell hardware at a loss, especially if all platforms are download only and all consoles use the same hardware? For the last two generations, all consoles have been made with off-the-shelf PC parts (which the notable exception of the Switch which was made with off-the-shelf tablet parts)
Really?
A loss that Epic doesn't have to incur.
So are Epic.
Sony and Nintendo aren't open markets. You need to comply with their rules and terms as a publisher. Games are also certified on consoles. Sony/Nintendo won't let Epic/Valve or anyone else to launch their own launchers/apps on their systems. Of course they'll include non-gaming third party services like Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, Hulu, Amazon Prime and other entertainment apps. But a big NO to all third party stores.
That's one of the reason why its bs to compare Epic Game Store to Sony/Nintendo shops. More reasons on the original post.
I was talking about investment in producing, manufacturing, promoting and selling consoles. You seem to misunderstand that. Trust me mate, its not that easy. Marketing also plays a huge role (remember Xbox One's disastrous launch?). Billions of dollars are spent into these project and small mistakes can cause huge losses considering consoles are sold at a loss too.
Yes, its is okay for console makers to sell their exclusives on their own stores. Are you crazy or something dude? Don't you understand what first party titles are?? Their rules, if you want to buy the game buy the console or move away. Consoles need to have exclusives, its one of the reason they sell soo great. What's the point of selling a console if there are no first party titles.
You said what's the point in selling at a console at a loss. It's a very broader concept. Loss Leader Pricing to be precise. In order to make a long term income, producers sell their products at a very cheap price. They must be idiots!!!!! LOL...well no, that's because there are plenty of other sources they can earn money. First off they make money by getting charging 30% direct cut from every purchase you make from Playstation Network/Xbox Store. They also make a cut with every physical game you buy from a retailer. Both Sony and Microsoft charge $40/year for online services and that's where the servers comes in sir. And yes, other companies are also free to do that, just don't panic.
Sony/Nintendo and even Microsoft (we'll just take Sony/Nintendo for now) have bought several studios under Sony Interactive Entertainment and Nintendo Publishing respectively. Sony for eg. spends massive amounts on their first party games like God of War, Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn and it makes them a lot of money by selling millions of copies. Good exclusives also make good headlines on the internet and bring more new people on-to those consoles. Same with Switch (besides its portability and friendly games). Now don't say why they aren't selling their games on PC....
If publishers want to steer away from Steam and sell their games on their own clients or make the deal with the dev...Epic Game Store there's nothing illegal about it. They can do whatever they want. They just won't get my money. Sadly it's my loss as it won't matter to them if they lose one customer like me.
"Both, Nintendo and Sony are doing extremely well with their traditional gaming business". I actually meant selling consoles and bringing new excluives every year.
