What's really your point dude? How does it make Nintendo a better gaming company than Sony if they have tons of cash in their treasury? Microsoft is one of the biggest company in America in terms of revenue so does it make them any better Gaming company?
The PS3 had a rough start and sure it took Sony 5 years before they even started making profit on that console. However it had really good exclusives. Sony's failure is not PS3. You're comparing Nintendo to Sony (they do other business too). They made terrible decisions in the past which led them to crisis in 2008-2014 like opening way too many divisions for eg. Vaio laptops, Xperia mobile phones, Storage devices, and Bravia Televisions didn't really capture the market and resulted them in huge losses every year.
Today they're doing really great with Playstation division, Sony Pictures, Sony Music, Sony Financial Holdings. OLED TVs although they're far behind Samsung and LG. They're also selling Sony Image sensors to various companies. However I do think Sony mobile is an epic failure and sooner or later its going to be out of business.
None of this really affected Playstation 3 and 4 anyways. I really don't think anyone complaining the Playstation was worse because it was a Sony product. Sony also makes arguably better games this generation.
ikr and that too the same ones over and over again....Nintendo fanboys and critics be like wow simple, cute, nostalgic..... 10/10. The biggest changes in some of these games are transition from 2D to 2.5D/3D platforming. There's not much variety and innovation within any Nintendo games with the exception of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (the only Switch game I like and I its also the only Switch exclusive that actually deserves $60 and have enough content to justify its price).
Thank GOD for Epic Games. Looking forward to EpicGamesShow at E3.
Well, I agree with you about DRM part. Owning a bunch physical copies of PS4 games are just 10 times better than having a digital library tied to a single account. However I disagree with rest of your points.
Not all PC gamers make fun of console players. You're a PC gamer too remember? Either buy a Switch or stfu? Not necessary because can emulate the game on PC at smooth 60fps without hiccups and still pay for the game on Nintendo eShops to support publisher.
I don't know what real gamer is, so can't talk about that. Switch is not DRM free either...if you own a PS4/Xbox One you must probably know how must 1TB storage gets fully utilized. Switch doesn't even have a internal hard drive. You're given 25GB storage (even cheap mobile phones come with 128GB storage since 2018). Your SD cards are locked as a DRM. An average Switch gamer will need to shell out at least 2-3 micro SD cards which is laughable. For reference 128GB card cost around $40.
Playing on Switch is not as fun as you really think or you wouldn't really be on Steam right now. Paid online service on Switch is a big joke. They give you PS2/Xbox Original era features and make you pay for a monthly/yearly subscribtion fee. $4/month is a big joke for what Nintendo users are getting. Half of the time the servers don't work. And for those of you who don't know Switch horribly lags when you play it multiplayer. There's frame drop issues, sometimes the whole game freezes up, there's no voice chat feature on Switch, there's no party chat, no in-game chat (at least not supported natively), you can't send invites, you can't pull friends from other games. You really can't do anything other than looking at the list of who's online and what they're playing. No Netflix, No Twitch. You can't even play multiplayer or co-op modes with your friends online. You can only play online with random strangers that happen to be logging at the same time on Switch.
it doesn't have basic features that are necessary in 2010s. Steam has all of these features for FREE. Heck even Epic Games Launcher, Origin, Uplay, Blizzard has most of them for free. PS3 had all of these features. Current gen competitors i.e XB1 and PS4 have all of these online features although its sad that they charge $40/year but at least you get monthly rentals as a reward for keep paying them.
Its overpriced accessories don't help either. I believe the Switch itself was placed at market price. However, its accessories are ridiculously overpriced. A pair of Joy-Cons is upward of $80. One gray Joy-Con is a whopping $50. A new dock is $90. An extra AC adapter cord will cost you $30.
Sure nintendo switch is portable but its terrible when you play it outdoors at bright sunlight. It has a cheap TFT LCD panel and the glare is just too much to make it look it visible even at full brightness levels. Battery life is also very poor. Only 3-4 hour gameplay before the battery runs out. Eventually the battery will drain faster because its what built-in mobile phone goes through in 2-3 years.
You're a hypocrite if you think Nintendo Switch is better than a PC. You seem to be an experienced gamer on PC yet you think PC is inferior. C'mon a low spec gaming PC can play games at higher quality than Switch.
Stop lying, lack of physical copies doesn't make PC a bad gaming platform when you can have hundreds of online features on Steam for free. And just two words: Steam Sales. Tell me if Nintendo ever had one of such sales. Steam Summer Sale - 23 June it is!!!!!! Then we can talk.
Take care
But I can't complain if Nintendo paid for it with their own money. If not for them, we would have nothing. In fact, I think Platinum would have gone bankrupt and closed down. At that time they had to make Activision games to stay alive lmao.
Switch does have awful hardware. I've only been using it for PSP emulation and indies, but with optimization the games can still be good. Look at Botw, the game is timeless and physics-based. Then look at the new Pokemon cash grab, looks worse than early 2000s games, even though turn-based games are easier to optimize. And Botw is a last gen game lol. I think Bayonetta 3 will still be stunning on Switch and Yuzu both.
2016-2019 GOTYs are all exclusive.
-Best graphics of all time combined with no loading screens
-No camera cuts, insanely ambitious for a game of this scale with monsters the size of islands
-Best, most detailed and satisfying combat system of all time, insane amount of particle effects and customizations
-God tier soundtrack
-Unforgettable story
etc.
