If you have no UI you probably hit F8

F8 is a shortcut for enableing and disableing UI in the game, probably meant for handy screenshots. If you think the game defaulted to no UI for some reason, you probably hit F8 by accident.

It explains it quite clearly in the options menu, it just isn't part of the ingame tutorials which were left unchanged from the original version, where you couldn't disable UI.

I am laughing crazy because I have been playing the friggin' game for like 2-3 hours and when I use steam overlay it somehow always disappears and I had to enabled it in the menu all time. Thank you so much for this info because now I have changed my steam overlay key so that I wont accidentally turn on and off UI in the game for no reason.
