How can I crank it up to 8K with DSR?

I want to increase the resolution even more, however for some reason GeForce Experience can't find the game and apply DSR to it. Any fixes for that?

Go directly to the Nvidia Panel, and I'll would even say "delete GeForce Experience ASAP" because it's not worthy.

I did enable it in the Control Panel, up to 4x, but the game still only goes up to 4k. This is the first time it doesn't work in a game and I have no idea why

Well, I use a 1080p screen (16:9 obviously), on a GTX 1070 OC.
Only have till x4 on the DSR option.

And Bayonetta goes max to UHD rez (3840x2160).
I don't know your GPU but if someone has a 1080 or better and can't do higher, then the vanilla version of the game can't do higher.

DSR settings are capped to your monitor native resolution to a max factor of 4. 1080p highest is 4k, 1440p is 5k and 2160p(4K) is 8K.

So get/use a 4K monitor...

Or use something like GedoSato, if you can make it works.
But frankly, 4K on 1080p is so enough, you don't really need more.

Not sure, I max out at 4x scaling so all I can get from my GTX1060 is 4k DSR 60fps on my 1080p monitor and damn it looks amazing. Maybe try with a 4k monitor or something like Trypetide and Rouge said.
