Uh nope, it's an action JRPG.

You do know a game can fall under more than one genre ? RPG simply means you play throughout a narrative driven game with a user created char that you ROLE PLAY as .. Ive played all the souls quite extensively and they are pretty hacky slashy.

Bayonetta is a spectacle fighter.

Geddit?... Spectacle? Oh I crack me up sometimes.

But no, I wouldn't say it's the Dark Souls of anything really, even on the harder difficulties.

I call dark souls a tactical action game due to how you have to play it and you have to think every move through.

Bayonetta is straight up a hack n slash on par, if not better than dmc3

Dark Souls is torture. Bayonetta is hack and FLASH. It's fun flashy and stylish.

The Souls games are amazing once you understand them.

They became known as "character action" games, as non descript a term as that is, but i'd say the first Devil May Cry is the Demon Souls of this genre, with 3 and 4 being the Dark Souls entries and Bayonetta being the "from another developer but still fantastic" entry, similar to games like Nioh.

They're both dating sims. It's just that the dating is a bit rough.

What does this question even mean?

Bayonetta, along with DMC, God Hand and Wonderful 101, fall under an unexplainable type of genre that most would call "spectacle fighter", though that's still a very broad and poor way of describing these types of games. Hack and slash might be acceptable, but then that'd categorize it right next to GoW and Darksiders, which don't offer the same depth the way Bayonetta offers. Character action, stylish. COMBO MAD are among others ways players like to call it, but since these kinds of games aren't too common, it'll remain unexplainable. I personally like calling them "cuh-ray-zee" myself.

As for the question in this thread, no.
