I own that DMC game and to be honest I don't like the main protagonist Donte. That game is still on my backlog.

Bayonetta is a whole different experience. The game is more fun in my opinion and characters are funnier and likable.

Depends on which DmC, actually. I would prefere DmC 1-3 gameplaywise before Bayonetta, I would prefere Bayonetta if it's DmC 4 or the DmC reboot. On the other hand... if the visuals and technical quality matters, I would prefere DMC (reboot) before Bayonetta. But as you only said dmc, I guess you mean the reboot. It's good, but gameplay-wise I personally like Bayonetta more. Visuals? As I said, different story. So there propaply isn't an easy answer to your question. How about: buy both? Both are spectacle fighters, but both have enough differences to be fun and both are games worth playing.

DMC4 special edition is cool.

Go for Bayonetta if you can play the main character as a spectator.
original DMC and Bayonetta are equial. but not the DmC(reboot). not the reboot, please.
Bayonetta over any DMC anyday.

Bayonetta, Original DMCs and Metal Gear Rising are true masterclass action games.

Both games are excellent for hack and slash fan so you can't go wrong with buying either. For me, I like Bayonetta more. It might be because I played Bayo first and I learned to love the frustration of hack and slash games. Plus there are amiibos now. I am hype as Fu*k for future of Bayonetta.

The DMC series, especially DMC4 and DMC3 with the style switcher, offers a far more deeper experience than what Bayonetta offers, but that's not to say that Bayonetta doesn't hold up on its own. The way I see it, Bayonetta is a fantastic entry level point to get started with enjoying the "cuh-ray-zee", stylish character action games, because its combat lies more within sequential button inputs with weapons changing up the way attacks are dished out, whereas DMC3 and 4 allows you to change your style on top of the current weapon you have equipped, opening up a huge list of moves to perform on the fly. Bayonetta features more arial based combos, while DMC3 and 4 is more ground based however it's possible to perform arial attacks but you have to work for it, jump canceling, enemy stepping, etc.

I would say devil may cry 3 and 4 > bayonetta. Dmc 3/4 have different characters you can play and each plays differently. Dmc is also not as silly as bayonetta. Both are great though. I say get both dmc4 special edition and bayonetta. Which one you prefer more though will depend on which character and story you like better i guess. They are all top notch action. Only comparable games that match these games in tight precise action is the ninja gaiden series for xbox.

Isn't the DMC 3 Steam version beyond horrible however? I wouldn't get a bad port like that.

Get Bayonetta first, then get DMC 4 and if you really have too much money you have no idea what to do with, get DmC reboot.
Yes, stay away from dmc3 port(although I wouldn't say its totally unplayable port, its got some issues). However, the console version are awesome if you're ok with old graphics. The action will be the meat of the game then. Many people say DMC 3 is the best in the whole series. DmC reboot is dumbed down dmc with horrible main character. Old Dante is epic. Imo stay away from DmC reboot. Dmc4 still have great graphics.

Stay clear of the reboot DMC unless you think its cool to have a protagonist saying "♥♥♥♥" every 30 seconds like he just discovered the word and is now acting cool in front of his older brother.

Ninja Theory is a terrible developer who cant make anything besides unlikeable protagonists that act in the exact same way in their games with very floaty and shallow gameplay. Enslaved and Heavenly Sword both suffered from beinng mainly made as only having decent cinematic cutscenes, gameplay wise the company is a total turd. Get bayonetta or the original DMC for another console and enjoy 2 of the great 3rd person games. Stay clear of DMC 2 aswell 95% of the time in that game you will use your guns to shoot enemies you cant even see on the screen and just watch their health bars deplete so you can move on, terrible game i have no idea how they could break so many things from the original dmc with that terrible sequel.

I really like this game but for me, DMC 3 with the style switcher is still better...I want to say its my most favorite hack and slash of all time, but that title goes to Ninja Gaiden black by a hair's width.

DMC 3 is my favorite DMC 4 is just so boring and is a downgrade from DMC 3, I'd get DmC over DMC 4, but I'd get Bayonetta instead of DmC and DMC 4
