No DualShock 4 support?
This sucks.

Edit: My issue was that I was running a version of the Steam client that predates Steam Configurator support for the DualShock 4. Uninstalling and then reinstalling Steam fixed the problem for me, though the game will still need to be patched to fix the button prompts (minor issue).

To anyone saying "why not use an Xbox One/360 controller?" sometimes you simply don't have one, and don't want (or can't afford) to buy one. Or, you just prefer a different controller. Either way, saying "use a different controller" is a completely unhelpful response.

Wat? Just enable the controller config for ds4 in steam controller config and done.

None of these alternative solutions are necessary for Rocket League. Just saying.

Rocket League is in the minority when it comes to the topic of DS4 support. Would be nice if more games actually supported DS4, but devs in general don't go for it (yeah, it sucks).

If you hate having to turn on DS4Windows over and over again, you can set it so that the program automatically switches off an Xinput config to a Dinput config whenever Rocket League/any DS4-supported game is launched. Or you can just use the Steam DS4 drivers on a per-game basis.

The solution, in this case, was to move my steamapps folder, uninstall steam, then reinstall it and move my games back. I was stuck on an October steam client for some reason (on my work pc). Also, I had to reinsert the controller in the BPM client.

So I can confirm that nonsense like DS4Windows is not necessary if you're running a current version of steam + Big Picture Mode.

I don't think you had to reinstall to use the Steam DS4 drivers; you could have just launched Big Picture and allowed DS4 Controllers. And yeah technically DS4Windows isn't needed but I find it nicer to use than Steam/Big Picture unless I want to throw motion controls into the mix. Just a preference, really.

I use a DS4 as well. I never installed any drivers, just connected it via USB. Works like a charm. Worked perfectly with NieR, works without any troubles with Bayonetta.
But as said earlier, the Steam client should be up to date.
From what I've read, DS4 beta support was added to Steam in November 2016.

Game just kinda rubs me the wrong way by saying silly things like "press A". Can't blame Platinum for that though.

my ds4 working with and without big picture mode

My DS4 works just fine.

I hate when people recommend DS4Windows. That alone is garage drivers for PS4 and clearly the person did not do his/her research on it.

Also, like everyone mention, Steam now supports PS4 controller support by using the Steam controller API. So, it doesn't matter if a game does or does not support the PS4 controller.

Point is: People shouldn't be using DS4Windows. c:

Open up Big Picture mode on steam, go into controller settings, and enable Dual Shock 4 support on steam. Not only does Dual Shock 4 work, but thanks to steam's interaction with it you can actually rebind stuff via steam and change the color of the light on your controller.
