Why using Items will lower you rank?
Bayonetta 1 - Using Lollipop/Items will lower your trophy rank

Bayonetta 2 - You'll get Bonus Point for not using any Lollipop/Items

. . .

Funny how changing the wording of the same, identical mechanic is enough to make people claim that it's "dumbed down".

The kilgore glitch was unintentional so it seems a little odd to use it as a comparison when questioning their design.

You two are not very smart if you think being unable to get a Pure Platinum rating after using items like in Bayonetta and being allowed to use as many items as you wish and still being able to get Pure Platinum like in Bayonetta 2 is the same thing. It's completely different, and "dumbed down for the masses" describes Bayonetta 2 perfectly. Not surprising at all btw since it was a Nintendo published game for a Nintendo console, and their target is casual players.

Basically lollipop used to make the game easier.
Do you think bayonetta herself need an easy enemy?
Even the enemy to hit her should be unimaginable since she's pretty mobile.
Well, the ability to react fast and perform some combo is the challenge of this game.
I think thats the reason i love this game.
If its easy, it'll be boring.

But it's not the same mechanic, using items in Bayonetta reduces your rank, using items in Bayonetta 2 doesn't. That's a big difference.

When people say you get a bonus for not using items, it's a 5000 point (I believe) Halo bonus. Nothing more. You can get Pure Platinum by simply spamming the yellow lollipops which make you completely invulnerable. All it takes is a long time grinding stages to make a batch of them.
There's many more issues with Bayonetta 2 though, which I'm sure any high-level player will agree with.

Oh snap, it's you Daedron. Last time I saw you, it was way back on the Bayo 2 forum on Gamefaqs. And yep, I do agree with everything you're saying.

I guess Nintendo Though "Okay Guy, we need to make Bayonetta 2 a bit more easy, the Original are hard to deal with Casual Player, okay these Boss are not Hard, Lollipop no rank reduce, and these boss are hard. okay let's make their design"

Nintendo weren't the ones to tell PlatinumGames to make it easier. Nintendo pretty much let PlatinumGames do their thing, with most of their insights being cosmetic stuff, like letting Bayonetta's Link outfit show more cleavage (really). It was mainly PlatinumGames themselves that decided to make the game more accessible. Also, the game was directed by another person, and not Hideki Kamiya. pretty sure that if it was Hideki at the controls, he'd gladly make the game twice as hard.

Oh hi! Yup it was a long time ago, I was so hyped for Bayonetta 2 back then. I still love the game but its shortcomings are such a dealbreaker. Bayonetta 1 has issues of its own that Bayonetta 2 fixed, but then it goes and messes with things that didn't need fixing.

Waiting on that Bayonetta 3 reveal now, and hopefully they take the good from Bayo 1 and 2 to make a perfect game.

I hope her hair is new stylish lady women, and i don't know if she is another color. She was Red in the Original and Blue in the Sequel.

I'm banking on purple. I think that would be a nice fit. Plus combining red(1) and blue(2) gives you purple(3)!

how about Green?

That would work too to finish the trinity (of realities)
Either would be fine with me, and honestly I don't see them going with anything else lol.

Deal with it. It's the same in any other similar game: Using an item makes obtaining the highest rank impossible. Bayonetta is actually really lenient because it at least lets you get regular Platinum if you use a few items.

I'm just asking why it's lower your rank in the Original and not in the Sequel, beside, the Golden Lollipop make you invicible for short (small one) or long (bigger one) duration.
the glitch was unintended obviously. bayonetta 2 was supposed to be easier thats why it doesn't affect the score.
