Why using Items will lower you rank?
Bayonetta 1 - Using Lollipop/Items will lower your trophy rank

Bayonetta 2 - You'll get Bonus Point for not using any Lollipop/Items

. . .

:fsad: Wat.

Because using items represents a deficiency.

Lollipop - Drop Rank

Exploit (EX: Durga + Kilgore) - No Drop Rank.

Huh, make sense.

Have you never played this style of game before? You always get punished for taking damage and needing to heal. And, that "exploit" is just game mechanics. May be cheesy, but it's not cheating.

Kilgore glitch is way less broken than the items in this game. One makes you invincible for an absurdly large amount of time, others give you potentially infinite magic, meaning you can slow time with the time bangle forever. Item usage makes this game an absolute joke.

Deal with it. It's the same in any other similar game: Using an item makes obtaining the highest rank impossible. Bayonetta is actually really lenient because it at least lets you get regular Platinum if you use a few items.

I'm just asking why it's lower your rank in the Original and not in the Sequel, beside, the Golden Lollipop make you invicible for short (small one) or long (bigger one) duration.

I've never played bayonetta 2, but giving bonus points is functionally identical to removing points if you just raise the bar by however many bonus points you're giving.

The Kilgore glitch as the name implies is a glitch, so it wasn't intentionally put in the game. The devs have said they don't feel like removing it, but because it isn't intentional, there's no way for the ranking system to detect it.

Considering the fact it's like 3x time stronger than the Red Rose Lollipop, may instant kill on sight during Witch Time.

You get a penalty for using helper items in both games. A loss of bonus is just a psychological trick to make the award feel like a bonus, instead of for the penalty to feel like a punishment.

The kilgore glitch was unintentional so it seems a little odd to use it as a comparison when questioning their design.

PlatinumGames made Bayonetta 2 easier in order to make it more welcoming for the Nintendo audience. It's not just using items that no longer penalizes you. Getting hit no longer reduces your witch orbs. It's mainly the reason why I don't like Bayonetta 2 that much. It just lets people take the easy way out instead of allowing players to be creative under difficult situations. Made worse by the Umbran Climax and its sheer broken score multiplier gains.

for the record, you can use one (or maybe two) small lollipops without lowering your rank.

The Mecha though, that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of Combo Score, since it's can stagger target even Beloved.

Because you can just pop a long protection lolly and go ham on basically anything pulling off any combos you want wit hease, it trivialises the game and you totally don't deserve to get platinum chapters whilst using items that make you invulnerable and do massive damage.

Because it makes the game easier, and it wouldn't be fair to spam them and still get Platinum/Pure Plat scores. If health is really an issue while playing, I recommend buying a Blue Witch Heart after Angel Attack; it may be just the boost you need, and as far as I can tell, it doesn't take away points. I used it all the time when I first got the game years back.

They removed it in Bayonetta 2 because that game is dumbed down for the casual crowd. It does a lot of things wrong.
