Unfortunately adventure games are the most time-consuming games to create, so I suspect we'll have to wait a year or more after Chapter 1's release before hearing anything about the next part. Pretty common in this genre. From interviews, I heard it took about 4 years to make Chapter 1. But part of that was having to create everything from scratch, and changing the game engine part way though set them back. So, assuming they stay with the same engine and can reuse some assets, hopefully Chapter 2 shouldn't take as long.

I wouldn't be surprised if it never came out. Chapter 1 didn't sell all that well.

Well, "indefinitely shelved" is more accurate. Although the sales figures may not have been strong enough to justify developing more chapters right away, sequels could still come about some day. Perhaps through a kickstarter.
