Power Bracelet
So I'm currently in the Hyperdimension G portion of the game, and I'm aware that each CPU's inventory is separate from one another during their respective story arc, but...

Is this really supposed to apply to your Key Items also? I crafted the Power Bracelet during the Zero Dimension arc, yet I've been unable to use it in either Noire's or Blanc's character arcs. Which, honestly, feels like poor game design to me, since there are breakable objects in their respective story dungeons.

It seems awfully silly to have to backtrack later just to collect items which, likely, by that point won't even be very useful anymore due to the level of progression you'd have reached by the time you're able to go back for them.

Yeah, it's rather annoying they did it this way, but most of the time, when you go back with stuff to older dungeons to clear out areas you couldn't reach before, the items there are actually better than the other stuff in the game.

This is a RPG staple, and Star Ocean 3 does this too.

you get power/hyper bracelet, all available flags on all routes in G arc
but NG+ items don't, lol

The weird part is that you *do* keep the power bracelet when Neptune goes back alone to Whateverdimension, while Nepgear still has it in Zero Dimension at the same time.

Yeah, but the power bracer doesn't transfer to anyone other than Neptune in G dimension.
You can't break any objects with anyone but her, until all the stories merge together.

From what I remember, your entire item inventory was still shared at that point, as opposed to everyone having character-specific inventories in the Hyperdimension G arc. It really is quite silly.

I don't mind the inventory split The solo chapters are pretty short and knowing that you'll have unfinished business in those dungeons discourages grinding at that stage. With the inventory limits on healing items, you're probably losing a significant number of consumables when the inventories merge anyway (? Probably.)

They could have definitely handled the party and inventory splits better though, I could do without re-equipping every character every single time they leave and re-enter the party. I like the idea of having limited access to the characters and inventory at various points to increase the difficulty and encourage experimentations with different party set-ups but the execution here wasn't great.

Ugh, yes. That's probably one of the most bothersome aspects of the game, aside from the ambient background noise & texture bugs.
That inventory split is really an incredibly poor design choice. Right along side of the incredibly poor world map and combo system changes.

The only real complaint I have about V-II's combo system is that we lost EX Finishers.
Conversely, I am a bit disappointed with how much SP skills and EXE Drives were nerfed.

I currently do more damage with skills and EXE drives than combos, so I have not reached that point yet.
But I'm just near the end of the game in the mid 40s. Not looking forward to that one big hell of a fight. :)

the game HAS EX and EXE finishers doesnt it?
were you can do your own special move (neptunes special attack number 2 for example) and team special moves

or am i missing something?

It has EXE drives, but they are no more powerful than regular skills. The advantage to EXE drives is the fact that you can cast them for 'free' by using up the EXE gauge.

The Japanese PS4 release (and only the JP release) had them patched to have a proper growth curve in power output and keeps them useful throughout the entire game and post-game.

Ofcourse, for the rest of the world; much like the broken EX flag implementation and DLC character event unlock, the SP and EXE drives are "working as intended".

(PS: That EX flag bug? Yeah; that kind of doesn't exist in the original JP release either...)

"Working as intended" my foot.

Of course, I won't claim to understand all of what occurs during a game's localization, but I can't imagine that altering coding for voices and text for release in a different language would have any impact on the game's actual mechanics.

It always boggles me when parts of games end up broken when the parts in question shouldn't have really been touched in the first place. If these were PC-only bugs, then I could perhaps understand, since the game was altered for an entirely different platform. However, given that those issues are present in the western PS4 release as well...

If I didn't know better, I'd suspect that somebody messed with something they weren't supposed to, couldn't fix it, and decided to pass it off as "intended" in the hopes of avoiding responsibility.

Granted, that's just my pessimism showing.

I call myself an Optimistic Pessimist, or a Realist, if you will. :)
I agree with you, that is probably what has happened.
