EX flag bug in NG+ ruins DLC character events
The PS4 edition of Neptunia V-II has a nice bug in its NG+ carry-overs, which ruins several important events for the DLC characters God Eater and Million Arthur.

If you choose to carry over characters (not levels, levels is thankfully fine; but the actual characters) you get access to the entire cast of the game throughout the story. Like DLC characters they'll be marked with a gold-on-red [EX] symbol in menus, indicating they are extras at that point in the story and aren't supposed to be there.

For characters that are involved in several unlock events for God Eater and Million Arthur, the game doesn't just check if they're in the party. It checks if they're in the party according to the story.

And now for the actual bug; the EX flag is apparantly never lifted correctly for the involved characters, locking you out of re-playing those particular events in NG+ and locking you out of re-earning several formation skills, etc.

So, having written all that: anyone already far enough in to know if this bug is still present on the PC edition? If so and the bug carried over to the PC edition; I hope this post will serve to warn future players to not carry over characters.

I found something that I think is a bug when checking about if Million Arthur had EX but I don't know, I'm post true ending and it is labeling all but Neptune as EX. The CPUs (beside Neptune), the CPU candidates, Gold Third, IF, Compa, Big Neptune, and the DLC characters are all saying EX.

And this is on a NG+ with the characters carried-over?
If so, that confirms the EX flag bug from the PS4 edition is still there on the PC edition.

(This kind of sucks, as there is atleast one extra formation skill which requires characters to be carried over.)

I believe that the bug is still there though, but I'm not 100% sure as to what the bug entails.
I do know that I am not able to get Milli's event in Heartdimension, so I guess so?

Unless there is something I don't know, it's just a visual bug. Nothing game breaking about the bug, it's just one of those "why isn't this fixed" bugs.

The bug in question is that the EX flag is never removed from certain characters, which prevents them from being 'seen' by the game as present according to story, and subsequently causes you to miss satisfying the preconditions for several events that tie into end-game gear and powerful formation skills involving the DLC characters God Eater and Million Arthur.

It's far from "just a visual bug".

Alright, so more than a visual bug.

Ugh. THis is annoying. This is really something that needs to be fixed ASAP.

I haven't made it to NG+ yet, but can't we just unlock everything the first playthrough and transfer all the weapons and skills?

If they never fixed this on the PS4, it's very unlikely they would bother on the PC version...

Hrm I'm getting close to NG+ and have Milli. Can I avoid this if I do not carry over characters?

Yes. You're safe to carry over levels, skills, and everything else. Just **NOT** the characters themselves.

No. Some skills unlocks have to be redone on each playthrough. And apparantly that covers some of the skills for the DLC characters, that are earned from CG events.

So if someone were to carry over characters what would happen on NG2 if you don't carry over characters this time? Fixed for NG2 or bugged for the rest of your save?
it really depends just if you carry over to your NEW playthough or not... u can play with carried over charas and just do a new game+ with no carry over and you are fine....

the problem is not only u are not able to view certain events, it even so locks you out of actually getting God Eaater and such..... Milly is fine and u get a few of her events by default just God Eater and Nitro need Converses which don't appear with carried over charas

pretty lame, maybe someone can make a custom mod to fix this maybe? u would just need to remove the ex tag from all non-dlc characters and it should be fine....sadly im not proficient enough to do that xD

According to them it's "working as intended".

(Yeah; you wish I was kidding...)

Rio, that doesn't make sense. This is an actual bug.
There has never been any indication this was not a bug.
It was a bug on the PS3, and it's a bug now.
Why would they say it's not a bug when it is literally the very definition of a bug.

I am legit so confused.
