My Reference List...(Finished)
So, I decided to start this...list...of references to other games that I see or hear...I guess I'll start the list with the ones I find in Noire's story...(Who did you expect me to pick first? Noire's my favorite...always has been.) Anyway...

Reference 1: In the Converse tab when you first get to Lastation, their is a guy named Banchou...he asks if you want to hear about his sister, Nyanyako...this is probably the most glaring reference I've found so far...this guy is supposed to be Yu Narakumi from the Persona series...Yu has a little sister named Nanako, who makes appearances in Persona 3 and 4...hence why he has the nickname "The Sister-Complex Kingpin of Steel".

Reference 2: When K-Sha and Noire are trying to come up with a name for the cat, K-Sha says Weiss...then Noire says that it might fit if the cat was male...(how the hell can she tell?) This is a bit of IF's self-advertising...this is a reference to the Agarest series...specifically, Agarest 2. The hero of the first generation is named Weiss...

Reference 3 (not confirmed...): So...this next reference is just my speculating...but it has to do with the DLC character God Eater...(who is a giant mass of references by herself...but I'll list those later...) so...her swimsuit, if you look closely...there is a part on the front of the skirt that has "07" on it...now, this is open to debate...but I believe this may be a reference to a certain series that shared the spotlight with God Eater in the crossover game Project X Zone...Valkyria Chronicles...specifically, VC 3...that number may be a reference to Squad 422, Nameless...the fact that the number is in gold on a black background, much like the Nameless uniforms, makes me think that this is actually true...If someone could confirm, I'd appreciate it.

Reference 4: Oh for f\/ck sake...as if God Eater doesn't mention him enough...get Lastation's PR level to 3...Noire will meet someone named "Lindou"...really? They aren't even being subtle there...this is yet another reference to Lindow Amamiya from the GE series...God Eater mentions him a lot, but she refers to him as "that person"...but I'll get into why I know that later...btw, the scout that you can find in Daze Station, Lint Amamiya...yeah, that's a blatant reference to him...I must say, though...I didn't expect them to make his chibi version look so accurate...nice job, Iffy...

Okay, now for Vert's story...(yes, I'm updating this as I'm playing...)

Reference 5:So, when Nepgear and Vert are arguing about the name for the Horsebird...S-Sha comes along and mentions "Cho"...and then she's cut off, but finishes with "bo"...anybody who's played Final Fantasy knows this one...she was gonna say Chocobo...the bird mounts from the FF series...

Reference 6: Here's one for you SAO fans...so, there's a scout named Kirio...(take a guess as to who that's supposed to be.) So, you raise Leanbox's PR level to 3...and you'll get an event where a person named Kirio comes up and asks Vert about her online character...for a game called 4 goddeses online...which was a thing that's been in this series since the beginning...and has been a reference to SAO the whole time...

Reference 7: Iffy, Square Enix might have some bad blood with you after this...So, this "film" that S-Sha was working on that almost killed her...that's a very jagged reference to the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within movie...which almost bankrupt Square Enix...Feel the burn, baby.

Reference 8: Wow, two references in one event. So, S-Sha mentions the law of equivalant exchange...now, where have we heard that term before...it brings to mind a pair of brothers...Full Metal Alchemist, anyone? She's trying to do exactly what Ed and Alphonse were trying to do in the beginning of the anime...create life...which, as we all know now, is a big no-no when it comes to alchemy.

Well, that's all the ones for Vert's route...now, we'll do Blanc's route...
(I'm sorry, but that Meteor Hunter DLC weapon of Blanc's just reminds me so much of the Granzon...the colors and design just have that look to them.)

Anyways...

Reference 9: Well, here's one that I didn't expect...so, there's a person in the converse tab of Lowee, named Child Mayor...that's an Animal Crossing reference...not the name, the character and what they say.

Reference 10 (not confirmed): So, this Azna=Leb guy..."correcting the gross distortion of Lowee..."...and his way of speaking, and his looks...seems like they put the wrong Gold Third in charge of Lowee with a guy like him there...it should have been B-Sha. Why? Well, this guy bears a striking resemblance (minus the hair color) to one Doctor Shu Shirakawa from Super Robot Wars...ever the enigma, this could even be Shu himself! I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a nod to Shu or not...but his way of speaking, his objectives, his looks...the resemblance is there...so I could be right, or I could be calling this one way out of left field...but here's a funny thing...the music that's playing in the background...I know it's used for a lot of events...but it just fits this one so well, in that it reminds of Shu's theme, Dark Prison...so that leads me to believe even more that this guy is Shirakawa incarnate...
=EDIT= It's actually Char Aznable...just realized it...but still, you can see why I thought it was Shu...I mean, besides missing the PAINFULLY OBVIOUS rearrangement of Char's last name...

Reference 11: C-Sha has a move called Ryushoken...it doesn't take a genius to figure out what that is...now, C-sha...you're supposed to call it out...and do it right...like this: SHORYUKEN!!! (Yeah, if it wasn't obvious enough.)

Reference 12: Another one of her moves is called Ora Ora...take a guess...yeah, that's a reference to Jotaro Kujo and his Stand, Star Platinum, out of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure...ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA!!! Yeah, that one.

Reference 13: Jeez, this chick is full of references...so her skill C-Buster...shouldn't take you long to figure that one out...Mega Man reference...

Reference 14: Surprise Surprise...another C-Sha reference...sometimes she'll say "Jackpot!" after she defeats an enemy...that'd be a reference to Dante, from Devil May Cry...yes, it's a Capcom game...one of their few grand slam series...

And FINALLY, we have reached Nep's story...
(I'm expecting some SRW references from B-Sha, seeing as she represents Banpresto...so I'm hoping for some good references!)

Reference 15: What do you know? First time she shows up after the Shift...a SRW reference!!! B-Sha, or "Presto Mask"...uses a move called "Presto Kick"...that's a nod to a certain SRW attack...ULTIMATE GESPENST KIIIIIICK!!! (Yeah, I just did that.) For those of you not familiar with that attack...that's an attack that's exclusive to the Gespenst Mk-II Custom, piloted by Major Kai Kitamura...and he's the only one able to use that. So far so good, B-Sha! I'm expecting more!

Reference 16: Well, there is more...Remember how I thought that Azra=Leb guy was like Shu Shirakawa...well there's a guy in the Converse tab of Planeptune called Takanashi Pro the Third...and he IS Shirakawa...the hair, the clothes...he is the master of gravity incarnate...

Reference 17: Hot damn...we got ourselves a REALLY retro reference! So, Neptune starts talking about a cyborg hero created by a secret organization...that could not be anybody but the great Strider Hiryu! Talk about a blast from the past!

Reference 18: ...Iffy, you clever little b!tch...so, this Steamax guy...his character model is reminiscent of a Personal Trooper from SRW...one in particular: the Wildschwein...the fact that his shuriken is mounted on his arm makes it even more so...on the same arm as the Wildschwein's Disk Slicer...

Reference 19: B-Sha's robot, Bandam...it's no Gundam...that's basically a reskin of the R-1.

Ok, that's all for the individual stories...now we're just listing them normally.

Reference 20: General Affimojas...yeah, he's basically a walking SRW reference...his design seems to be based of the Cybuster, the Elemental Lord of the Wind.

Reference 21: Oh hell no...did he really just say that?! "I'll make you into rust on my sword!" That's a reference to Sanger Zonvolt...Mr. Sword-that-smites-evil himself..."Step forward! You'll be nothing but a spot of rust on my Zankantou!!!" That's the line that they're referencing...what I want to hear is someone use his signature line...I'll say it in Japanese first... "Ware wa Sanger Zonvolt...Aku wo tachi tsurugi nai!!!" That translates to "I am Sanger Zonvolt, the Sword that Cleaves Evil!!!" That'd be awesome...of course the character saying it would use their own name instead of his...

Reference 22: Oh, B-Sha...you never cease to amaze...so, sometimes whe she starts her turn she says, "I can see them...I can see the enemy!" ...Welcome back, Char Aznable...OH ♥♥♥♥!!! HOW DID I NOT SEE IT BEFORE?! AZNABLE...AZNA=LEB...OH MY GOD I'M SUCH A F\/CKING IDIOT!!! And here I was thinking he was supposed to be Shu...I've disgraced Shirakawa...

Well, that's all of the one's I found to be significant to me...(Again, I know there are HUNDREDS of other references...but I neither care about those ones, nor am I going to list them.)

Oh, and be ready...I might have to start a whole other thread to list all the references involving God Eater-chan...those of you who are GE-series fans like myself, I'm about to test your knowledge of the series!!!
=EDIT= Yeah, it's gonna take another whole thread to list all the references she makes to her own series...she's a walking self-advertising billboard...I mean, blimp...(You're welcome, SRW fans...I hope I brought a certain character to mind with that one...maybe two of them.)

Get ready, people...In a few days, you're gonna see a MASSIVE list of references involving God Eater-chan...IT'S GONNA BE A LONG NIGHT!

There's one about the cat that Madoka fans would get. (I'm not one of them, so I had to look it up.)

Again, I knew about those already...but, as I said in the beginning...I'm only putting ones that hit home for ME.

FYI; Spirits Within was the movie that almost closed them down; not Advent Children.

Well, I think we can agree both were giant flops...

But...since you weren't a ♥♥♥♥ in pointing it out like some people tend to be, I'll change it.

Wasn't "Spirits Within" released years before the SquareSoft and Enix merger?

Square and Enix had been considering a merger to pool their resources; cut back on shared costs and more effectively present a front against western development companies' offerings since atleast as early as the turn of the millenium. However, when Spirits Within released short after and left Squaresoft near-bankrupt Enix backed out of the idea.

Instead, Squaresoft went to Sony and negotiated a capital injection out of them in exchange for a relatively big stake in the company (atleast 15% shares, iirc). They managed to stay afloat that way and had enough success in the early PS2 years to make the company atleast semi-health again.

Enough for Enix to reconsider the merger again, especially since Enix had fallen upon harder times by then as well and both companies needed the increased economy of scale to keep themselves from losing more money.

Thank you for the history lesson, my friend...(and no, I'm not being sarcastic.)
