VII also stands for Victory II not 7 since the game is a direct sequel to Victory/Re;Birth3
Megadimension VII is also the 4th installment in the main series with its remake VIIR coming next year.
Yeah the PlayStation VR remake of Victory 2 is already out in japan but will not be in english till next year.
Edit: Haven't finished the first game though, put in 40+ hours and still 2 chapters to go
Hyperdimension Neptunia (PS3)/Re;Birth1 take place in the Superdimension which is an alternate dimension. mk2/Re;Birth2 is basically a reboot of the series that retconned the events that happened in either games.
Arfoire in Re;Birth2 is a different version called the Deity of Sin and obviously it isn't connected to the "prequel" since none of the events from that game are brought up (although Re;Birth1 does bring up a certain sword from Re;Birth2 game as a joke) and none of the CPU Candidates even know each other in the game despite being playable and having a little dialogue in Re;Birth1.
So one should just play them in order. From Rebirth 1,2 (Action U, Noire's game),3, etc
But yeah, Rebirth 1 and Action U take place in the same universe (Superdimension), Rebirth 2,3,VII take place in Megadimension, all other spin-offs take place in their own universes (altho some events from the main games are referenced).
Of what?

Nisa is between compa, falcom, and blanc, and Gust is all the way to the left.
so hyperdimention MK1, hyperdimention MK2, Hyperdimention victory.
Hyperdimention Rebirth1 (4), hyperdimention rebirth 2 (5) hyperdimention rebirth 3 (6)
megadimention Victory II (VII or 7)
Too bad Victory II started development before any of the Re;Births became a thought which would still make it the 4th main installment in the series.
That dumb myth about the PS3 trilogy + Re;Birth Trilogy + Megadimension = VII needs to go because many idiots also thought Victory on PS3 was the "5th" release of the series when it was actually the third.
I already know who Gust and NISA are so there was really no need to bring them up and they still appear in other games outside Neptunia.
