Does Chaos Suck or am I just bad?
I just got into Dawn of War and had an easy time beating the campaign on normal. I hopped or over to Dark Crusade and have mostly just played Chaos so far, I've been having a pretty difficult time and was hoping someone had anything beyond "Get Good."

It's not you, it's the game balance. Chaos is supposed to be a melee-oriented faction in a game where massed anti-infantry ranged firepower hard-counters most melee and the successive patches and releases haven't been kind to them.

On paper, it is true that Chaos is supposed to be a melee oriented faction, but here's the catch: they get access to heavy bolters at tier 1.5. Against the AI, i just rush chaos armory and upgrade two or three CSM squads with heavy bolters. From there, just kite the enemy and use cultists as screen if necessary, or even the Chaos Lord. This setup is so op you don't even need to go tier 2, unless you're attacking a stronghold or a region with 2 enemy bases in the campaign.
In stronghold missions i keep a few heavy bolter CSM in the base for protection against assaults, and attack with plasma guns CSM moving inside rhinos, with one or two melee squads to screen them, and chaos predators (horror squads stay inside their summoning circle until it's time to strike). I admit this is a bit micro heavy, and you will struggle a bit against some of the toughest strongholds, like the infamous Tau one, but you will eventually overwhelm them.

Without any information of what you're doing wrong, it's hard to guess at a solution for a guessed problem.

The best option is to just play an easier faction like Space Marines since you can't handle Chaos.

My main strategy at the start is to build some generators and a temple, while making 4 cultists squads to cover as much ground as possible and give Eliphas one space marine squad with heavy bolters, I don’t build listening posts on points unless they are close to my base or I wish to hold that location, like relics. Once enemies start showing up I use cultists as ranged units and give them all grenade launcher to cut through infantry, I rarely make raptor squads unless the terrain is very ass and usually rely on a raptor champion. I never use troop transports, I always make predators before defilers. I generally only use chaos as a shooting army before I get korn Berserker's. I think possessed marines are really op and am mad you only get one squad max, I love obliterators. I tend to not have enough power due to forgetting to build generators. I am bad at micro management and tend to leave units on points doing nothing for minutes at a time. I play on normal.

Sounds like you're playing Chaos like you're playing Imperial Guard and not utilizing your strengths.

Your cultists are dirt cheap and allow you to swarm and cap many points around the map for an economic advantage (in addition they best most other starting units) while you should build as many listening posts as you can as they lead to more money and you refusing to build some hurts you economically in the long run.

Khorn Berserkers are easily your best unit (likewise Eliphas is the strongest commander in the game especially in the campaign mode) but before then in the early stage you can just shift-click your cultists to cap as many points as you can while you have nothing much to do, otherwise your CSM with heavy bolters are also very powerful once you upgrade them to have 4 heavy bolters so they're very effective at range.

Try working to get 2 berserks supported by your other units, predators and pink horrors, with the summoning building hotkeyed the horrors are expendable and you can endlessly warp them in to draw fire or destroy any vehicles and buildings.

Then of course once you get your tier 4 units you can steamroll your opponent since they are very powerful, with fully upgraded predators being especially good at destroying all vehicles and buildings.

Ill, keep that in mind.
I have noticed with Chaos you tend to win by a lot, once chaos powers is researched it becomes basically impossible to lose, I've only lost late game in the campaign once and it was against the Tau in the mission required to add a Defiler to your Honor Guard.
Justrush possesed squads with fire breath and win my dude.

"What's the infamous Tau one?"

I think they mean the Tau home base sector.
