I think vanilla, it is, but with mods, may be the best rts game ive ever played. People are still making mods of this great game ...check them out on MOD db

Yes it is the best DoW, and close to being the best RTS ever.

The best RTS ever has to be CoHO made by the same company ... so sad that they cancelled it after only 9 months :(

Out of the expansions for the first game, I'd have to say this is my favorite. Mostly because I get the most number of factions possible without blithering idiots with terribad voice acting running them.

Yep love it. All races playable, grand scale battles, turn based world map, persistant buildings (unlike soulstorm) and 1080p friendly. What I don't like however is that the AI sometimes have multiple commanders, you know, the ones you can upgrade with wargear. I find that odd. But other than that, kickass game for sure.

Compared to Dawn of War 2 it's 10000 times better.

Comparing this game to soul storm....Dark crusade is the best DOW 1. Soul storm down grad a lot of features that makes the game fun and balanced. If you install modification such as Titamium war, the game is 10X better than it already is.
