Invalid CD Key?
When Dark Crusade prompts me for my Dawn of War CD Key, I enter the CD key steam gave me for the copy of Dawn of War: Gold Edition I bought. Normally this should work, but when I enter the CD key it says "CD key invalid". Why is this? Is anyone else having this issue?

Have you tried contacting steam support?

Nevermind... I fixed it myself. After trying all the fiddling with regedit, webcrawling every single wiki to try and fix it. The best fix is just to run Steam and the game as an Administrator! Then verify your game cache. Fixed straight away for me. (Also launch each game in the order they came out, eg DOW, WA, Dark Crusade then SoulStorm.) :)

Oh! I also tried digging around with regedit, but the value for the CD key in there was exactly the same as the one steam gave me. So just make steam.exe and WH40KDoW.exe (or whatever the file name is) run as administrators, verify the game cache for all the games, then launch them in order?

Yeah thats exactly what I did, also you have to keep them on administrator, I took steam off and it stopped working again. You can also Allow Full Control for all Users and the System in the Security, Steam Properties as I did that, but running as an Admin is what worked for me.

How do you set those programs to run as administrators? I can run it as an administrator once but can't set it to run as one permanently.

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks! I was having the same difficulties as others and I went into the registry and tried the other work arounds and nothing seemed to work. Then I tried what you suggested and it worked! Thanks again!

I think I'm doing something wrong, because I tried the above method and it didn't seem to work...

I'm having a similar problem here. I have Soulstorm via Steam and Dawn of War, Winter Assault, and Dark Crusade via CD. Here's the crazy thing though: It says that the CD key for Winter Assault is invalid and that Dark Crusade is not installed correctly, but as far as I can tell neither of them is installed AT ALL. When I insert the disc it gives me no option to install any of the three games, it just assumes they're installed and gives me the option to play them, which when clicked on does nothing.

I honestly haven't the slightest idea what's going on here.

Unfortunately I think this is pretty broken... Although if, theoretically, there was software out there that generated CD keys for these games -wink wink nudge nudge- I'd be curious to see if that fix worked
