Tau cheats
1. Skyray gunships, and stealth suits armed with fusion blasters can decimate listening posts, and will not be targeted back, due to the fact they have a longer range than even a heavily armed listening posts
Anyone got any more?

Thats not really what you can call a cheat, but it is a clever tactic I use all the time on Multiplayer and Campaign. Even better is that In campaign you can attach wargear that makes the Tau commander cloaked and he can use his long range missle pods to the same effect.

Tau don't cheat, they just have strategies you haven't found a workaround for yet.
For example, another deadly strategy is for the Tau to rush your power generator with Vespids. If you aren't prepared, then they'll decimate it and leave practically bloodless. However, if you have a squad defending it or you built it next to a tower, then they'll be toothless and will have lost a lot of time and resources witha failed rush.
What race do you main? I might be able to give you some advice

Egh. I'm less experienced with Tau as I am with other races. I do know, for example, that the battlesuits are good anti-vehicle. Identifying key points on the map that the enemy will likely strike (for example, I highly doubt they'll try and kill the tower closest to your base) and defending them via battlesuits could counter this, but you have to know its coming. Same for having detection and responses near for stealth suits. As a general rule, if an enemy is at a higher tech than you, and your army is equivalent in size, they are already winning. It's expected for you to have access to these units if you are playing against an opponent with similar build strategies.
Another good tactic would be to have the troop transports ready nearby to defend multiple points.
If you are below tech, but you think you have a better/larger army, it may be a better idea to just attack your opponents base and try and deal more damage than he/she is doing to your towers. If you lose a tower, but your opponent loses a tower plus barracks/vehicle beacon, you'll be better off.
Again, I'm not as experienced with Tau as I am with other races, so my advice is more generalized as opposed to specifc

Personally, I was always fond of the Kroot pounce exploit. Take a squad of kroot warriors without a shaper attached, and the leap attack upgrade purchased. Put them in ranged stance. Get them anywhere's near another army's infantry squads. Switch to melee attack. Repeat as often as you like, to completely paralyze entire groups of infantry squads while the Kroot themselves claim a few casualties each time simply due to you switching attack stances once they're nearby enough.

Think that lasted about a month after the game came out before Relic patched in a delay between leap attacks.
