Normal campaign as Necrons: keep failing against Chaos
TL;DR: low level Chaos territory too hard for noob Necron player

I played this game years ago, but never beat this campaign. I'm trying the campaign again, but I'm new to the Necrons. A relatively early, low level Chaos territory keeps kicking my butt (It's about level 2). I assume they have everything built up and just show up with a huge and ever growing force of marines before I can even tech up to immortals and flayed ones. I took a different territory from them before and also from the Orks. The Chaos forces attacked the latter territory after I took it, and I beat them back twice despite spamming Defilers, so I'm doing SOMETHING right. Any advice would help.

Don't play Necrons? no offence but they are too difficult for a new player to understand let alone manage due to how slow they are overall your Necron Lord is one of your strongest tools and should be carrying you in the early game while you build up your forces.

I doubt any advice I can give you will help much as this is a skill issue but it won't be difficult for me to just post a video beating any level you're having trouble with to show something more substantial to compare with your own play.

I played the original DoW back in the day, finishing the campaign and playing a lot of skirmish against the AI. But that was with Space Marines. So skill issue is fair enough. Rhean Jungle is the level, btw.

The easiest way to win against pretty much any of the areas in the campaign as the Necrons is to produce basic necron warrors until it becomes too slow to do so or inconvenient. This is because the basic necron warrior unit costs no resources. Summon new units before reinforcing any of them.

Also , set most of your builder scarabs at creating power generators constantly. Keep one set for capping strategic points, but most should be building power generators. Remember to set the scarabs to auto reinforce. So not set more than one scarab unit to building a generator though because each figure in the scarab unit counts toward speeding up the process of building structures.

Work toward acquiring the resurrection orb ASAP. This single artifact will help keep units in the field, and even be able to create more units than normal.

Finally, work toward getting a restored monolith. With one of these, combined with a vast army of necron warriors, one can warp a monolith to a location and then summon their entire army of necron warriors to the monolith. Most armies simply melt to this tactic.

Played on hard, looking back on this I would say the most important thing to do is trying to keep all your builders from being idle, also your monolith should be producing non-stop, if you don't know what to build then get Warrior squads and if you have too many then don't be afraid to delete some of them because you can just use a Tomb Spyder to turn bodies into free units and go over the squad cap.

The game ended before I was able to make use of vehicles and because it would take even longer for me to upload this.

Note: The Chaos Lord wins a 1v1 against every commander in the game and only lost at the start of this game because he tried to run away (an odd and obscure mechanic in all DoW 1 games is a "cowardice" debuff that slows a commander when engaged in melee combat with another commander).

Thanks, I'll take a look ASAP!
If you're still having trouble, then might I come with a small suggestion?

1. Rush out 2-3 builders and then fill out your remaining pop with standard warriors.
2. Get your warriors upgraded ASAP, that one upgrade can save you from losing the battle.
3. Send your lord out to do some harrasment at the start of the battle.
4. Once you have a decent foothold, RUSH MONOLITH.
5. Deepstrike your monolith next to the enemy base and spam out pariahs.
6. ???
7. WIN.

Edit: You don't have to follow these steps, but I use them when playing necrons on hard difficulty.
