I’m getting waves of attack scarabs from some tunnels, waves of pariahs and flayed ones from others, and standard warriors from yet other tunnels. Destroyers and Heavy Destroyers are also spammed at me at all times, I’m not doing anything to trigger them
Yeah, ended up giving up on this mod unfortunately. It was tons of fun, but eventually you hit a wall and all your motivation to finish the campaign just evaporates.
I also conquered the whole map before I attacked a stronghold to have the full possible honor guard one can have and to be able to have the ability to build forward bases and more initial requisition and energy. (defending your provinces is easy in dark crusade, since you can fortify and progress is saved, build bases and turrets near where enemy attackers spawn and you can instantly build units next to them and have basically infinte ressources, since you five bases /30 generators/captured and fortified strategic locations are saved)
Once the initial attack is pushed back, I immidiately pushed forward to destroy the two resurrection beacons. Then I build up a decent force and take the third strategic point.
At this point I was always attacked by a giant necron force. So I make sure to be able to fortify my base before I push further.
Depending on the race one plays the strategy from here on might be a bit different, but what i basically did with all races, once my defense is secured, build high tier infantry. like for sm double terminators , sternguard vet and 2 devastators. also as many heavy vehicles as possible in case of sm 4 predators. (for IG double ogryn/double kasrkin, double of don't remember the name but those weapon speacialsts which can equip plasmaguns and can add a rocket specialist + command tank and 4 leman russ vanquishers also basilisks are very useful on this map),
Now I push forward to destroy the first monolith and then push further north to destroy the gauss pylon. Then I build a second base up in the north east with turrets and some infantry as defense.
Then I destroy the beacon of the deceiver next to 2nd base.
Now I push to the mid of the map. Take the relic and basically fortify and hold the whole mid section of the map. build recruit buildings and another base in mid. If you took your time with it u might get unlucky and the necrons teleport monoliths into the back of your first base, but don't worry if that happens, monoliths go fairly fast down in this mod and by now you have enough squad/cap and ressources to rebuild if necessary and you have by now at least 3 bases.
Anyway by now I have build a titan (or it's counterpart depending on the race) and high tier tanks like land raiders/baneblades. and push to the east to the graveyard. Now this is the toughest part, but if you get pushed back it's no problem since you fortified the mid section, you can always rebuild and send more waves east, just make sure you each time destroy some of their building, though usually it is possible to destroy the graveyard with a titan and heavy support vehicles + high tier infantry. (and you need some way to detect invisible stuff, because in graveyard are deceiver beacons).
IG can deep strike similar to space marines, if you lose an infantry unit or two rebuild them, let them enter mars pattern command or mechanized command, and you can "deep strike" via valkyre transport for fast replenish, most races have similar possibilities.
From here on it's basically gg. It doesn't really matter which route you now go and which tactics you use. You defeated the hardest part and you have a titan (watch out beacon of dragon south can steal your titan if too close)
Once the graveyard is destroyed no more monolith are sent at you. Except the stationary activated monotliths but they don't go for your base.
Just fortify any strategic point were necrons can spawn aswell, if you want to make your escape easier.
I hope this helps
EDIT: also i always had my leader somewhere at first base, so he is safe and many necrons are scripted to go for him, so they must try to move through your mid defenses. Since most of them don't even focus on destroying your mid base it's fairly easy to defend. If you want an easy escape after planting bomb use safe tunnels if you fortified most of the map the final assault will certainly not hinder you to move back or just in case of sm build a second orbital relay near the place where bomb is to teleport back.
That's why I first conquered all provinces of Kronus, except strongholds. Go in with a full honor guard, so basically all honor guard units you can get. The forward base ability which you get from one province, gives you the ability to buy buildings with requisition before the mission, so you will start with up to 4 generators, 4 turrets, 1 infantry building and 1 tech builing which saves you ressources, which you can then invest in other stuff early on.With those you should be able to stand your ground early on. And keep the honor guard alive.
Another tip, make use of the pause button if things get to hectic and you feel like it can help you manage your troops. you can still order commands to your units and buildings while the game is paused. As I understand you play as Guard? you can make advantage of buildings early on, for example if you station some units in them they are safe yet they deal damage. and it takes a while for the enemy to bring your buildings down. if you think you lose a fight.
Now it's hard for me to say if you are waiting too long, since I can't see how you play the mission and I didn't create the mod, so I don't know 100 % which script when exactly triggers. Also I can't claim to have THE way to beat the mssion it's just how I did it and it always worked for me.
The creator of the mod, has a video online on youtube where he beats the necron mission as imperial guard which might help you. I watched it after beating the mission, events triggered not exactly the same when i played (as i understand video is from unpublished version of the mod and i played obviously published like you do) . But I can assure you, you can beat the mission.
