Again this is only what I remember so I could be wrong.
Edit: There is no in game kill counter so you may have to make a save in the game then kill the orc base and see if you got it, if no then reload and keep waiting.
Yeah this wargear is a bit of a chore.
Edit: I'm also playing as the orks i tought of the imeprial guards but after some time they rek me with their tanks
So if I play chaos and I get a wargear, like say the manreaper. My Chaos lord will ALWAYS have the manreaper and its damage till the end of the campaign.
And yeah, Mass infantry and strong tanks is pretty much what the Imperial guard is good for(and best artillery too).
Get Tankbusters and cloak alongside Wartraks, If this is still on easy you should be able to keep the IG on lockdown.
Get a wargear when your overall body count hits 2000 and 5000 over the entire campaign.
I mean I know you lose out on vehicle damage and the melta gun.
But don't you also get more health overall melee damage and that AOE morale break that daemon prince normally has?
Maybe it would of been better to make it a toggle, Chaos lord about to die hit the ascend button.
P.S clearly I have never played long enough to get the transformation, so apologies if this is obvious.
