I want to use Kroot so badly :/

Is there any way I can use them effectively? They seem to get outmatched by pretty much everything. But I love them so much so I tryhard them anyway.

Use their eating ability to buff health, add a shaper, pick on weak ranged units and avoid dedicated melee units. Hounds are awesome..krootox I guess for disruption with a supporting damage dealing unit.

Krootox and Greater Knarloc are great damage sponges against most opponents, so when you attack make sure to send them in first.

For regular Kroot Carnivores, make sure you use Cannibalize early and often until they are up to maximum health, and attach a Shaper as soon as they become available.

The Kroot are really meant to be used with the Tau units. You don't get any Kroot that can deal with other factions solo until tier 2/3 depending on matchup. The most effective tactic I've used with the Kroot is to have the Feral Leap onto your target and lock it in melee while Fire Warriors or some other ranged Tau unit pelt it from safety. As long as you have enough Kroot to soak damage this combination can kill just about anything. Just be wary of units like assault marines that can simply jetpack over to your Tau and slaughter them.

Thanks for the tips guys. Yeah I use the leap ability but mostly forget about the hp gain from eating.

I usually end up making 2 kroot squads and 1 fire warrior so the kroot can help out when someone decides to jump my warriors.

Unless your enemy is going for melee units 1 fully reinforced kroot squad should be enough.
