SSF4AE Tutorial/Training Mode
Hi all,
i'm pretty new to fighting games, actually i'm trying to learn the basics of MKKE, and looking at it i have to say that does a pretty good job in giving you hints, tutorials and practice modes of any sort.
Since i own SSF4AE in my inventory, i plan on activating it once i'll have enough of MK...the question is: how SSF4 explains to you how to play? Do it gives you the means to practice with the basics and some advanced stuff? I've googled around but i haven't found a video which shows the training part of the game, aside move lists i'd like to know if there is a tutorial that explains you the basics, the specials and some advanced stuff and if gives you a safe enviroment to practice (aside a possible story mode), don't know if i make myself clear...-tnx

There's a trial mode that "teaches" you how to use special moves, BNB combos, and a few flashy combos for each character, but there's a few issues:
1) It doesn't explain things like distance each move for combos
2) It doesn't explain how to EXFADC
3) It doesn't explain things beginners wouldn't understand (like the Z symbol meaning dragon punch motion)
4) There's nothing that covers the basics

That said, it's better than nothing, and the community's friendly enough to teach you how to play. Just head to group chat, there's usually someone on and willing to help.

ok, tnx for the reply...i think that i'll stick with MK for the time being, i think it's the first time i play fighting games with dedication and maybe it's better that i get the hang of it before try something more "expert friendly"

I'd say that's a good idea, MK9 does a good job teaching you what to do, and unlike other fighters like Skullgirls and MVC, you won't get combod into oblivion because you let a sneaky normal past your guard. It's still possible to start with SF4, I personally did, but it took dozens of hours to get a basic understanding of the game's systems.

Oh right, and I forgot to mention, the trial mode is only for characters that have been in the game since SSF4, which was two versions ago.

i wasn't aware of this, how many characters can't do the trial mode?

Only 4 characters ( i think ) dont have trial mode , Yang , Yun , Evil Ryu and Oni .
Like was said there is the trial mode when you could learn some moves.
There is a pratice mode when you can, for example, training against specific adversaries moves
and there are several youtube videos that explain the basics and advanced stuff.
You could also visit the super street fighter chat ( click in all - chat...top of the page ) or create a topic asking for people to teach you and im sure there will be volunteers

if you want to know pretty much everything about the game then you should check this out:

vesperarcade did a pretty good explaining beginner + expert stuff, although you DO need to play ALOT to understand and implement stuff that is mentioned in the tutorial.
