Super Street Fighter IV: Possible FIX!
Hi folks Eljan here,

Purchased this game a week ago, like many of you, I couldn't get this game to run. BUMMER! Finally had an hour to myself to think this through and found a possible fix. "Possible fix" I refrain.

Runs Windows 8.

Some of you may know the fix many proposed in earlier posts: It worked for others, not for me.

http://angryryu.blogspot.com/2012/11/how-to-run-super-street-fighter-4.html -Credits to Ryu.

But first:
Follow angryryu's link and follow the instructions. If that didn't solve the issue, move on to my fix.

Two ways to do this:

But first, lets state the obvious problems, after executing the file there's either a blank screen or none at all. If you look at your task manager (for windows 8, like myself), the app is not visible on the processes that are currently active. Expand the list to view all the details, scroll DOWN to BACKGROUND PROCESSES. Voila! its there just doesn't want to let you play thats all :( okay NOW! here's the first thing you can do.

1. Run the application through steam or desktop > Task Manager > Background Processes > Locate and R-Click "Super Street Fighter" > Properties > Compatibility > Compatibility Mode > Check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for" > (I selected Windows 7, just because I CAN :p ) > Apply > OK > End Task.

Re-launch the game and Enjoy :)

NOTE:
A) MAKE SURE TO HIT APPLY > OK > End task (this will End SSFIV in the Background processes).

B) Under compatibility mode drop down menu, I tested Windows XP (Service Pack 2) to Windows 7. Nothing changed, the game will execute.

OR!

2. Open Steam app > Right Click "Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition" from your Steam Game Library > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files > Find "SSFIV" > R-Click, Properties > Compatibility > Compatibility Mode > Check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for" > Select which version you want to run (I selected Windows 7, just because I CAN :p ) > Apply > OK.

NOTE:
MAKE SURE TO HIT APPLY > OK

BUT!!

Before you get all excited, make sure you copy your "CD KEY" it will ask you for it upon load:

Open Steam app > Right Click "Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition" from your Steam Game Library > "View CD Key" > Copy to Clipboard.

Hope this fix your issues. HAVE FUN and dont hurt anyone, keep your rage down. See you in game.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention: Starting this up will still prompt you "Installing Microsoft bla bla bla"
Ignore that, that bad boy wont touch you again.

Have a gooooood one.

Didn't work for me either. I'm running windows XP and chose windows 2000 for the compatibility though.

Did you try Ryu's fix prior to changing the compatibility? Without Ryu's fix, running on windows 8 gave me issues. Run Ryu's fix, follow it step by step. Then proceed to changing the compatibility. Play around with the compatibility selections. If that still doesn't give a fix , sorry

:(

Also try this:

Right click SS4 > properties>Local Files>Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

Just to see if you have all the files required to run the game and/or if you happen to be missing any etc..

Hey so im not sure what is happening with mine, but when i attempt to run SSF4, it goes to the performing first time setup, then goes away and nothing happens. I tried your fix by going into task manager but it doesnt show up in background processes :\

the installer is kinda buggy...for some people the "first time setup" will ALWAYS show up when you start the game, but usually the game actually starts.

it sounds like your installation of games for windows live is somehow broken. have you tried manually reinstalling games for windows live? that might solve your problem.
