c viper combos
So, I don't really play fighting games but I'm trying to learn C Vipers combos and every time I try to do Burst Time it does Emergency Combination, this is during training so I always have ultra charged. How can I press punch x3 differently so that it works, these games make no sense to me.

emergency combination has same input as burst time, but burst time has LP+MP+HP at the end, while super combo has either punch. Make sure you press the button mapped to LP+MP+HP instead of pressing the 3 punch buttons at the same time. if you dont press them in teh EXACT SAME time, it wont register as LP+MP+HP.

Moreover Viper is the hardest character to play, execution-wise. I dont think you should start playing with her. She is very bad for beginner, she is really hard to play. Ibuki is hard the same way, but she doesn't require those high-exec combos. Ibuki can easily win without hard combos while Viper cant. Trust me, I play since more than a year, I have more than 1100hrs of playtime and I main Viper and my alt is Ibuki. I play them because I was told I have extraordinary execution. There's an Ibuki combo, which takes weeks to be able to pull it off.

High Exec characters: C.Viper, Ibuki, Sakura, Evil Ryu, Gen

You have to have very good execution skills to play them on a solid level. I would recommend Akuma, Cammy, Fei Long, Seth, Adon, Gen, Ryu, but basically anyone.

I recommend picking up an easy-to-play character, like Ryu. Then, after you learned the game basics, mechanics, techniques, THEN start to play a harder character, because viper has much more tools than other characters, and maintaining her as first character will make you having a bad time.

Good advice. Using Ryu was how i learned all the basic and advanced to a point i could hold my own online. I have plenty more to learn but again this is sound advice.

No, don't play ryu please, everything but ryu. Just play the character you like.

It's no secret that playing Ryu teaches the fundamentals of the game. The OP is struggling with a character they like and so learning the fundamentals will enhance their knowledge and more importantly.....their fun.

Maybe it might help you a bit, if you really want to play with Viper:

Also this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8UzFVF0DQU
Good players to watch:
Latif, Gridman, Wolfkrone(hates to block on wakeup), Kyabetsu(Cabbage) and JayceTheAce.
Framedata for her:

I would rather begin with Viper, even if she is harder to play. Ryu isn´t going to teach you, how to do feints with Viper for example. Ryu has different links and also belongs to a different archetype, which requires a different mindgame. Also try to get used to her movement.

well i can tell you dont play because you wanna do a super with 3 buttons and that wil get you ultra instead. if your gonna do super just use 1 button but same double motion on the stick. hope this helps!

I started playing Sakura, I sucked with her and I still suck with her, but I have fun with her and I like her style. I got friends that got in the "So, they told me to play Ryu so I did" that can only play Ryu and they get frustrated because they don't like it now and rage everytime they try another character because they only know Ryu.

And I think they're not the only pople with that problem, just stick with what you like and have fun with it. If you wanna go Ryu, go ahead, if you wanna C. Viper, go C. Viper.

definitely a very valid point, but i think the crux of the matter is that C.viper straight up has the most advanced execution requirement (jump cancel, super jump cancel, feint cancels, and the tiny timing differences on instant air burn kicks to get it to cross up only when you want it to, i could go on but you get the idea). Comparing picking up sakura and getting to a competent place with her to picking up ryu and doing the same is a fair assessment. It's a wildly different matter with c.viper tho. I guess the better advice isn't "pick ryu" but "pick someone that's a bit more beginner friendly"

Stop saying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like this.

Pick a char you like then learn the game through that instead of wasting time on a character you don't want to play

Dude, Ryu was a random suggestion. He can start the game with anyone, but not recommended with a char that have way more tools than others in the rooster. Viper cannot win without hard combos. She cant. Neither can Gen. Ibuki and Sakura both have some hard combos, but you can easily win without those.

You clearly never played Viper seriously, otherwise you'd know that she wouldnt be very suiable for a beginner. I started Viper after I had around 700-800hrs.

you explained my point very well

I don't think Viper is the hardest, but then again, who knows.

To me, anyway, Gen -> Viper on a harder level.

Viper is pretty easy once you get the hang of her execution to play.

Anyways! I agree, despite what some people have been posting in this thread. Main a character like Cody, Ken or Ryu to learn the basics, and then move onto harder characters. Viper is definitely up there with hardest to learn & play at a high level vs technical skill required.
