5. what did L1 do on luffy's ps1 controller?
6. what did L2 do on luffy's ps1 controller?
7. what did R1 do on luffy's ps1 controller?

Ha ha bloody ha.

■ = MP
▲ = HP
● = HK
× = MK
L1 = LP
L2 = PPP
R1 = LK
R2 = KKK

Less than a minute of Googling could have answered that for you.

Hmm, that's an out of ordinary config. I don't remember shoulder buttons on PS1 controller being that good but he uses them for LP and LK so obviously they are.

I'd have to recommend against Luffy's setup. His setup isn't good, HE is good. Pro ball players can hit home-runs with a wooden bat, that doesn't mean you recommend it to a kid playing high school ball. I wouldn't be surprised if he used the thing just to see a bunch of numskulls try and copy it.

Admittedly, while I can't say I'm pro-level by any stretch of the imagination, I've used a variation of Luffy's setup for the best part of the past 15 years and I have to say it's worked decently for me.

And yet NO ONE claimed PS1 controller for years until Luffy. All of a sudden now a solid proportion of players are claiming that they've been using PS1 controllers for a long time. I remember my PS1 days as the beginning of when everyone started to get arcade controllers for home. No one was praising the PS1 controller for fighting games back then.

I didn't claim I use a PS1 pad. I stated that I have a similar pad config to his, which I've been using for close to 15 years now. I could easily make a derisive comment about reading ability here, but I'll keep it to myself. Oh wait, I already implied it.

I started playing SF seriously with SF2Turbo (read: I've been playing console SF for over 20 years now) and ever since then, I've had my lights in the shoulder buttons, mediums in the top right face buttons, and hards in the bottom left face buttons. Make of that what you will.

I thought that most competitions banned multiple button mapping regardless of your control of choice. That is why I assume most button checks unbind L2/LT and R2/RT.

Even a number of stick players use the PPP and KKK macros certain times due to physical impossibility to hit certain combinations without them, so I don't really see any reason for tournament organizers to ban the use of these particular two macros. Everything else though (FA, grab, taunt, etc.) would make sense to be banned.

Really, that's bs. That gives an unfair advantage to fighting stick players.

I play on a PS4 controller and use a similar config to Louffy's it seems.
My config setup..

R1 = LP
■ = MP
▲ = HP
R2 = LK
× = MK
● = KKK
L1 = PPP
L2 = HK

I generally don't use the L1 or L2 buttons.

i'm trying to verify this information on google though and can't find any relevant results.

what was the search query that you used?

i tried "Luffy PS1 controller lp lk mp mk" and "Luffy PS1 controller square circle triangle" without quotes and still couldn't find his button setup.
