Ultra Street Fighter IV

Ultra Street Fighter IV

SSFIV: AE vs. USFIV
Like most people, as a kid I played Street Fighter on the little arcade things in stores and whatnot. However, I'd now like to start playing Street Fighter on PC and would like to get somewhat good at it. However, I am trying to decide which version of Street Fighter 4 to buy; both Arcade Edition and Ultra are currently on sale (for $9.00 and $17.99, respectively). I know that Ultra has some added characters and balance fixes and is the most current version of the game; however, I am not sure if these extra features are worth the higher price. So I just have a few questions for you guys:

1) For those who have played both, which game has the more active online community?
2) Is getting good viable with an Xbox 360 controller? I would really rather not go out and buy a fight stick for just one game.
3) For those who have played both, which game has the better netcode?
4) Finally, is there a steep learning curve for beginners?

Thanks a lot in advance.

1) Ultra has and will have the most acive online activity, it is the most up to date game after all and possible updates/fixes will most likely happen here
2) yes XBOX gamepad is viable, except you want to do some advanced stuff like plinking or xx cancel xx cancel combos, you can buy an arcade stick later if you are really hooked ;-)
3) netcode is the same in both, AE was renamed to Ultra, while still missing the extra characters
4) You said you have already played SF as a kid, so I think you won't have many problems to pick up the game, just practice in Training Mode / Trials and online with people who are on the same level as you.

Thanks a lot for answering! I think I'll go ahead and pick up Ultra.
