it's not hard as much as you think.just practice
even i can play some characters better than a stick, except chargers and grabblers

My best advice would be to buy a stick. But if you can't plink on a keyboard then you probably just don't actually have a grasp on plinking in general because it's no harder on a keyboard than it is on a stick.

The biggest issue on keyboard i could think of would be that you're probably plinking with your left hand. The general idea when plinking is to keep the finger that's going to hit the lower priority button raised slightly higher than the one hitting the higher priority button that you want to come out so the lower priority button is hit just after the intended input.

Normally on a stick you'd be doing that on your right hand. Your middle finger would hit the button you want to come out, and your index finger would plink the lower priority button. Because your index finger is shorter than your middle finger, it's naturally easier to keep raised. However with your left hand you're probably inputting with your index and plinking with your middle. Because your middle is longer than your index it becomes awkward to keep it raised higher than your index.

So basically your options are
-buy a stick
-switch your directions to WASD and put your attacking buttons over on the right side of your keyboard/numpad
-or just practice until it stops being awkward

linking combos are all about timing. You just need to practice your timing in between button presses. Go to training mode and practice the links you want to do over and over again until you get them right.

Sometimes when i try to plinkMP+HP I get this in the input:

MP HP
MP

And other times i get it right and i get:

MP HP
HP

Any tips to not get the first one?

If you want to link an HP attack (eg ryu: forward+HP>link down+HP into dragon punch) you have to press HP~MP meaning the MP has to be pressed immediately after. On training mode it will look like:
MP HP
HP

If you want to link a MP attack you will have to press MP~LP meaning the LP has to be pressed immediately after the MP.
It will look like:
LP MP
MP

As a rule of plinking you have to "plink" the lower attack next to the attack button you want to come out (if that makes sense).
When you get this basic idea then you can move on with more complicated variations.

unlike these guys i actually play on keyboard. most likely, if you are sure youre inputting it correctly, you have a keyboard ghosting issue. personally i couldnt plink until i bought and modded a hitbox to my keyboard specs, since there are no ghosting issues. i dont plink my links that much anymore because i know the timiing really well. i recommend for keyboard this setup:

wasd for movement, w for jump

numpad: 4-6 for hp through lp
1-3 for hk thru lk
enter for focus, + for grab, / for triple punch and * for triple kick. i use - for red focus but my character (dee jay) doesnt use red focus well.

edit: keep in mind youll have to get used to avoiding the num lock key. i dont like having triple punch or triple kick right next to my regular buttons. if you cant get used to reaching up for triple punch, try them at 8 and 9 on the numpad. i dont recommend trying to press all three punches at once with the normal buttons because it most likely wont come out right.

keyboard works incredibly well for charge characters. i dont recommend it for grapplers obviously, and regular input characters especially if youre having ghosting issues.

another tip: for mash moves like hondas HHS, for the hp versions you have to press hp-mp-lp-hp in quick succesion to get it to come out. like blankas hp electricty as well.

z charges are also possible, its much easier on the right side of the screen since you have to switch your ring finger for your middle finger on the left side for z charges.

keyboard and hitbox ARE viable. imo mostly for charge characters. you need a hitbox to enter tournaments though - they dont accept straight keyboards. the advantage of keyboard for charge is you can charge your next move right after releasing the first move. for example: i can blanka ball as soon as i land, alot of players do not expect this. as guile i can outspeed most other guiles onlines fireballs and force them to come at me. its a great tool.

not using a charge character? buy a stick. or get a pad. either way

No need to plink if your keyboard is a cheap one. It will not allow plinking.

Well then it's a good thing that's the last line of the post then isnt it o.o? It even has it's own bullet point and everything.

ignore the haters and just read my post OP. plinking is possible on high-end gaming keyboards. i recommend you buy a hitbox and mod it to your personal specs. i like to have my hands far apart - some like them closer. you have your hands really close on pad, slightly farther on stick, and my setup is about 16 inches apart.

in the words of the Southern Comfort guy: whatevers comfortable.

a good way to see if your keyboard has ghosting issue is this site
http://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/content/projects/KeyboardGhostingDemo.aspx
direct on top you see the keyboard, click on it and check your keys out.
that way you can see how many you can press at once while they are still recognized.

yes, follow this advice too. most keyboards that arent expensive gaming keyboards have ghosting issues. my first keyboard i used couldnt use more than 4 keys at a time, making usf4 incredibly hard to play. i learned my timing without plinking from using it though - youll struggle but you learn the game better this way
