Bought 3rd strike on Xbox.
I have played SFII and alpha 3 as a kid and started SF4 online since around 2009. Pulling of hugo's 360 command grab is like ten times harder on SF3 3s. The whole game is very different. It is not as combo based as SF4 and way more tactical around footsies. Wake up shoryukens are not effective with the parrying and the jumps feel very different. Most combo's that you'll get are cancels from single moves instead of long blockstrings.

I like the game but i suck badly at third strike and am not able to win against anyone when i have like 70% winrate online with my main character in SF4.

Guess Third strike is the real hardcore game?

Yep... many consider Third Strike to be the best of all the Street Fighters. Hugo is kind of ass though... if you want to stand a chance you need a top tier character like Yun, Ken, or Urien.

Thought Urien was mid tier lol

Still i think it's weird that i'm not able to pull off a 360 move while in SSF4AE i do SPD easily. Execution is really different.

SF4 uses auto correction and has very loose inputs... that's why you have things like plinking. If you think that's bad... try playing one of the earlier KOF games.

... and Urien with Aegis Reflector is pretty damn good. ;) Dudley is a beast as well.

Guess i'll never be able to do Hugo's Gigas breaker. I can't seem to pull it off when i want to. :(

Well to be fair... Third Strike was designed for arcades where controls were better. I think Capcom knew a large portion of the SF4 crowd would be playing on the default Xbox 360 controller... so they were forced to loosen up the controls to even make the game playable.

You shouldn't have any issues on Third Strike if you're playing on a stick or a pad dedicated to fighting games.

I play on a Madcatz Fightpad. The only problem i have is with the 360 motions.

You don't need to do a 360 in SSF4, a 270º motion (3/4ths of a circle) is all it takes for you to do one. Try buffering the 360 move during a HP or in the air. I can do 360ºs in 3rd strike on a fightpad just fine, so it's all about practice.

Guess it's all about practise then i guess. Gonna have to go back to the drawing board.

I like SF4 but 3rd strike is hardcore and imo a lot of fun i love playing as alex he is my all time fav charc, and parrying a normal into command grab is one of the most satisfying things to do as alex and watching that intro vs Hugo is awesome

What you can do is buffer the move during something else's animation. Things like forward dash, the pause that's caused when you parry, using the UOH's animation time to buffer Gigas as a tick throw setup, mid-air down+fierce cr.jab gigas. Basically the same thing you might do with Zangief's U1. Something to consider is that Hugo doesn't really play 100% like Zangief and 3s is very different from SFIV so you'll have to work out a different mindset to begin with; even if you end up going with another character.

I'm pretty sure that was the most automated response the internet could muster. If he wants a 3s equivalent, Sean is pretty terrible.
