Street Fighter IV TE Fightstick Problem
I've got an original Madcatz SFIVTE Fightstick, X360 version, and I cannot for the life of me make it work on this computer.

On my old computer (Intel and Nvidia parts) it worked flat out plug and play, but I can't get the same results here. I've tried using a normal wired X360 controller and that worked no problem. I've installed the X360 controller drivers from Microsoft, still no dice. The device manager lists it as a "Street Fighter IV Fightstick TE" under Other Devices. I don't know how to make this work if the supplied drivers by Microsoft won't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

System Specs (No overclocking at all currently):
- Windows 7 x64 Ultimate N (WMP stuff downloaded)
- Asus Maximus VI Hero
- Intel i7-4770k
- 32gigs G.SKILL Trident X
- EVGA Geforce GTX 770
- Creative Sound Blaster Z
- Don't imagine other components are relevent.

This should just work from plugging it in. I'm extremely confused.

I may be wrong but it sounds like you may need the via chipset with the usb ports. I had to buy and install one so i could use my fight stick. They are cheap and easy to fit provided you have the space. Not sure if there are any external things of the same nature that do the same job.

Also, on my ssf4 R2 stick (PS3) if i dont have the switch on ther top left set to DP it does not register inputs with some games. I always thought xbox versions were just PnP. Sorry i can't be more specific.

Thanks for the reply, Shayne.

However I don't think that is the the problem. If I recall the chipset you're talking about allows fightsticks to swap between Ps3 USB and X360/PC USB. Since I don't care about Ps3 USB, dunno what difference this would make. I'm using an X360 controller with a Win7 PC, so it should work without additional hardware or software.

I am not all super tech when it comes to these things but i also have an Xbox360 pad that works directly via the usb ports on the actual base unit. I do know that some sticks work right off the bat and others require the above regardless of the platform it was designed for.

Okay I made it work. I went into device manager, selected the device (in this case SFIVTE under Other Devices), right-clicked, selected

- "Update Driver Software," then selected
- "Browse my computer for driver software," then
- "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer," then selected something about
- "Microsoft compliant devices," which enabled the selection of
- "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows Version x.x.x.xxxx"

Whatever the lastest version of the xbox controller drivers works. The system just flat out told me the device I was using wasn't an xbox device, and that MS holds no responsibility if my system exploded. However this worked. I've never had to use this route on something that should be plug 'n play for MS. I'm a bit in awe that it caused me this much frustration.

Hope this helps prevent someone else from having my woes.

Yeah I needed to do that with my wireless 360 controller too. It's pretty dumb

SFV just dropped and I wanted to say THANK YOU to Mr Knives as well. My method was sliiightly different, but it's because of your suggestion. I picked my own drivers, and I didn't find what you suggested---so I picked the option to check for all driver files. I found "microsoft" under manufacturers and found the same controller driver and it worked. THANKS!
