Also, on my ssf4 R2 stick (PS3) if i dont have the switch on ther top left set to DP it does not register inputs with some games. I always thought xbox versions were just PnP. Sorry i can't be more specific.
However I don't think that is the the problem. If I recall the chipset you're talking about allows fightsticks to swap between Ps3 USB and X360/PC USB. Since I don't care about Ps3 USB, dunno what difference this would make. I'm using an X360 controller with a Win7 PC, so it should work without additional hardware or software.
- "Update Driver Software," then selected
- "Browse my computer for driver software," then
- "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer," then selected something about
- "Microsoft compliant devices," which enabled the selection of
- "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows Version x.x.x.xxxx"
Whatever the lastest version of the xbox controller drivers works. The system just flat out told me the device I was using wasn't an xbox device, and that MS holds no responsibility if my system exploded. However this worked. I've never had to use this route on something that should be plug 'n play for MS. I'm a bit in awe that it caused me this much frustration.
Hope this helps prevent someone else from having my woes.
