USF4 PC netcode seems like garbage... :/
I've done everything i can to help online be stable.

I a solid wired connection no packet loss <40 ms. I forwarded steam client ports. I have set my video card to force v-sync and switched off v-sync in the game. Everything.

With other eu players with a flawless connection it still has huge amounts of input lag. Why? That question is truly beyond.

Someone help... Please? I have no idea how other people are playing this game without consistent lag. Also my pc is grade A and runs above 60fps so its not a framerae issue its pure networking lag from this ass netcode.

Capcom you really messed this one up... :(

Why do you think other people have flawless connection?

I don't really experience inconsistency when I'm playing my friends (yes, they are from Europe). Also note that most of the time, inconsistency isn't caused by the game but by some ISPs and people's own networks. My friends are from all over Europe, with most of them the connection is always flawless, but there are some people with whom it's really a hit or miss. The game is the same in all cases but the ISP and the quality of the service isnt, that's why I'm saying the netcode isn't totally random, it just can show inconsistency when the quality of the connection isn't good enough.

I told him to disable the ingame v-sync but he came from the 360 and the screen tearing bothered him so I told him to use the GPU v-sync instead.

lol.

The netcode is not perfect but it works very well for some regions, like Europe.

It's horrible, but it's one of the better netcode for PC fighter games. In fact, it's probably the best netcode for 2.5D fighters.

Yeah... depressing, I know... especially since we all remember how much better it was on GFWL.

I hear MKX is better, it seems to be a mixed opinion. I dont own or know a friend to share it to really know or test.

Pretty sure its the same trash that valve and the games developers have been feeding us.

Nobody forces you to use Steam's services. You can go play on PS4 or Xbox One.

MKX has terrible netcode, it's barely better than what they were using in the PS2-era, on all platforms.

If you're in Europe, then online is perfectly fine as long as you avoid Russia, Italy, Spain, Greece.

If all of your matches are terrible then it's time to look at what is causing the issue on your end. Open a command window and check your latency by pinging to, for example, Google.

ping www.google.co.uk /t

It should be a consistent reply, I get 9-10ms.

Any slight fluctuation, steam sale, or hiccup on steams download servers or client the game is outa control(pauses, slowdowns and or hangs) or disconnected. "lost connection to opponent" You have been disconnected from steam servers" blah blah. KOF on steam never does that, neither does Skullsgirl, XBL never does that and is alwyas consistent etc...
That doesn't happen to me.
Stop stating your personal experience as the general one, it's not hard to understand that not everyone is having issues with the current state of the netcode (or at least, not as bad as you mention)
You blame Saki for stating his opinion, while you claim yours to be a fact. Calm down a bit already.
Because it is a fact, you just need to wake up. If steam servers are down or are having issues ( which they consistantly do) and or going through maintence you will not be able to play a p2p game peacefully.

Everyone experiences issues is some form of way, just some seems to experience them more or less and some poeple are more tolerable than others.

PC has the best netcode SF has ever had. Its not Yata or KI netcode but its good.
Apathy Aug 11, 2015 @ 11:00pm
Yeah the netcode is trash, but it's mostly due to people using garbage connections. I can't count how many matches have green bars until you enter the lobby and then it's buried on 0 bars. People need to stop playing this game on wifi, and also need to not play online if they don't at least have a broadband connection. Even if your connection is amazing it doesn't mean anything if someone from your own region is using a potato for a router.

Wont agree, Sweden-South Russia(or Spain) with at least 10mbs is very gud in MKX. You do better avoid Brazil USA and other american countries. Yo, also asians.

USF4 on Steam has the best netcode compared to XB and pS

USF4 is often like playing underwater. people who don't mind input lag tend to feel positive toward USF4 net code, but i can't stand it at the best of times. i don't really play anymore, largely because of that.
Interesting that you brought that up. We never got that input delay adjustment that PS4 got. We're still on 6+ frames of input delay, but I guess they think we dont need it because we can turn off vsync?

I also wanna point out I am one of those players that don't mind input delay and likes vsync but in no way do I find the netplay acceptable in anyway.

LOL, hell no.. XBL handles coast region distances a lot better. Eastcoast trying to play westcoast is so gross on steam..

Does anyone truely remember though, or has it just become myth? Back when I could remember, I decided that Steam was slightly better. Now I can't remember at all. I've had many more "good" matches agianst players from other countries with Steam than I ever did with GFWL... I think.

In terms of local (US), I think it's more a case of how terrible our Internet is compared to other parts of the world. In the GFWL days, there were fewer people on PC.

V-sync in any form will create input delay.
