Ultra Street Fighter IV
"Let's PARRY!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtuA5we0RZU

First seen in Street Fighter 3 series, parrying is a gameplay mechanic that involves tapping once in a particular direction and absorbing the incoming attack instead of taking damage.

Fast-Forward to the Street Fighter 4 series.

With the exclusion of parrying and the inclusion of the Focus Attack, and more recently the Red Focus Attack, has parrying survived?

Are those who wanted the parry system to return getting a compromise with this Focus Attack system?

Do you even like parrying or did you always dislike it for some reason?

Personally, I think that parrying should always be included in some way in the Street Fighter series, whether it be the third strike incarnation or the Focus Attacks we have now.

Yes It is, it's called "Focus"................
While Focus and Red Focus could be considered 'dumbed-down' versions of SF3's parry system, they get the job done.

The reason Capcom moved away from the Parry System is because it was part of what drove away casual players from the game. I've noticed how some people played SF2, skipped SF3, and returned for SF4.

The only global SF mechanic that's carried over so far is Supers, I think.
