Arcade mode: Cannot pause game or resume fights without inviting player 2.
In arcade mode, whenever I hit either of the "Start" buttons for keyboard 1 or 2 configurations, I get the "A new warrior has entered the ring!" message, it stops the AI match I am in and enters a second player controllable from my PC. It does not matter which Start button I press, both invite a new player.

This bug also makes it impossible to continue after losing a fight, as pressing either start button seems to just invite a new player to the game. I can then continue my ongoing arcade game where I left off if I beat up the uncontrolled player character, but it's insufferable having to do that every time I want to continue.

Any fix for this bug? It makes the game nearly unplayable.

You need to go into the controls. If your using a gamepad there's no need to be hitting anything on the keyboard. You need to go through the various controllers (you can configure 2 players on one keyboard I think) and change the controls or just stop hitting those buttons.

Did that, not working. Pressing player 1's start button seems to make the game assume I also pressed player 2's start button.

I do not have a gamepad.

Same problem here. I encountered many keyboard problems and it is one of them. I hope they will correct it someday...

Hmm, maybe we can narrow it down. I'm playing it windowed on a laptop. Some websites seem to discuss a keyboard fix for SF4, but that seemed to be only for the keyboard completely failing to work instead of just getting player 1 and 2's keys mixed up.

What kind of PC you playing it on and how? Windowed? Tab out a lot?

turn off the steam overlay, it seems to be the cause.

I don't know about the Steam overlay, but this problem existed even before the transition to Steam.

It's most likely a coding issue with developers unfamiliar with how to assign controllers on the PC. Admittedly, it seems very difficult.

I play it on a laptop, windowed, with steam overlay and I reassigned some keys in the options. Edit: tried deactivating Steam overlay, but it didn't change anything.
It seems to me like the game was just not correctly tested for the keyboard.

Same thing here, did not appear to resolve the problem.
