100 Days vs CPU Experiment!
Hello Street Fighter's!

I'm Project1993 and I've been playing USFIV For about 800 hours now since Januari after I bought an arcade stick. I've managed to get to a skillcap of 2300PP but felt being stuck there and I also did not feel good in the game by any means.

I've decided to start an experiment. Everyone says you don't learn from playing a CPU, that you learn only how to play against a CPU and that playing actual people is different etc. I am wondering to what level of skill a player can climb after spending 100 days playing vs a CPU and spending time in training stage and completing challenges.

For my experiment I'm probably only using Akuma. I've always like Akuma's evilness but have never been able to pick him up since my execution has never been good enough, nor have my fundamentals been good by any means. This experiment is meant to learn it all! Footsies, fundamentals and execution.

If you are interested in following my progress or regression at: my Twitch.tv channel. [www.twitch.tv]
Please leave your opinion at this thread about my experiment, I've taken alot of controversy regarding playing vs CPU's which is the main reason I've actually started this project. Hopefully the outcome will be progression.

Thanks for reading!

Regards,

Project1993

the problem with what you want to do is that the cpu is bad and easy beatable on the highest settings. you will get bored pretty fast since it will be no challenge.
i hope they raise the difficulty in sf5.

i would even prefer that so that it gets harder when they have no other way.

Hey man! Thanks for the reply, I just finished streaming 30 minutes ago, And I've been entertained for a long while. I'm not sure how the skill of the CPU works, But as Akuma, Ryu is by far the "smartest" CPU. Hes actually so good he beated me ALOT. The VOD Is up in my channel if you wish to see how strong the Ryu CPU is, but Yes. Sometimes they make very dumb moves, but on the other end. his Anti-airs are flawless, his fireball game is agressive, and even his jump ins are smart! I do agree. Some CPU's are utterly stupid, and have no combo's. I hope they make a CPU in SFV That is unbeatable, but not in a unfair way. I also seen the CPU use his Ultra the moment I pressed Jab, That feels weird, but that doesn't happen often! I will keep practicing and hopefully manage to stay sane enough to finish this experiment!

We will see! :D Thanks for taking your time to watch it. I think we can both agree the Ryu CPU doesn't play that bad.

Yeah man, that Ryu is ridiculous.

ps: Does experiment involves 'exploiting' dumbness and cheap stuff of AI? Or should you play it like human?

The issue with the CPU is that it'll never punish you appropriately, rarely use high-level combos, will miss opportunities to the extent that it may train you in bad behaviors, and it seems to cheat in order to increase the difficulty in Arcade mode (dosen't really help you become harder to predict when your opponent predicts everything). The thing I hate most are the moments when the CPU could kill me and suddenly stops or hesitates for no reason.

That being said, the CPU is great for figuring out the basics on how to fight a character and for practicing execution under pressure. Also, great for figuring out if you actually can play a character or not.

Thanks for your reaction man!

I feel like Ryu is by far the "smartest" CPU. His punishes could be better, but often it won't really come to that since the matchup Akuma / Ryu is mostly a groundgame and Ryu punishes every kind of jump in perfectly.

From the first 2 days of training I think this training will help me focus on footsies, ground game, Execution and focusing on correct punishes.

I wish there was a way to fight an even smarter CPU with perfect high damage combo's and no random Ultra's or Fierce Dp's. But mostly it's fine. He beat my ass pretty hard today.

Zangief is also annoying as hell. Try to defeat him without focus attacks. He will give you a hard time.
