Here's a thing, people can go with, or not, but it's a fact.
On the very first drawing of Poison, done before theyd even started making Final Fight, before they taked about releasing it in the West, before Nintendo had anything to do with it, and before Ono had any say on anything..)
..on the Very First Pictures of Poison EVER drawn, it was written that she was a Post-Op Transsexual, or, as the Japanese referred to them a "Newhalf"
Every time this subject comes up, I appreciate the myriad of "In America she.. but in Japan she.." "but Ono once said.." "but because of violence toward women they said.." etc etc..
All those stories exist, but you know what existed before *ANY* of that stuff?..
..Her concept art. which said, in written word, she was a transsexual.
And the Final Fight arcade machine outline which also said she was a transsexual.
Before they'd even programmed a SINGLE pixel.
I also used to have a gaming magazine, that I bought in the 80's, that had an interview with a Capcom rep, again, talking about the arcade's release, before FF even *had* a home version, and in the interview he said the same thing.
Then, when the first home releases did finally came out, the Japanese SNES manual AND the manual for the long forgotten SharpX6800 computer, also both stated she was transexual.
I know this post wont clear *anything* up, this tired argument will never end, but whatever, just putting it out there.
If one frikkin' person reads this and goes "huh, interesting, I didnt know that was the story" then that's one less person who'll argue over it. :)
So, in regards to the answer of the OPs actual question:
From a character bio standpoint: Poison is a woman. She was born a man.
And regardless, she's hot as s++t ;p
Dumbest thing I've heard all day. If you're born with a penis or vagina, that determines if you're male or female. My goodness is society going down the damn drain and weird s*it being accepted.
Uh, no.
I think someone hasn't heard of gender identification!
Go take your conservative ideals, put them in a box and go.
A persons gender has nothing to do with whatever is between their legs.
Theres are plenty of Men and Women in this world trapped in the wrong bodies. Why don't you go do a little research on that before mouthing off.
Aye, that has been proven, shes a female now by all legal means.
The problem is theres people on here saying that you're gender is determined by your privates. Which is outright lies and discrimination.

A transwoman with male genitalia, a pre-op or non-op male-to-female transexual.
Ah, I wrote Post didnt I? whoops, thanks for the correction.
Regardless, she still lives "as a woman" so is still referred to as a "she" to anyone willing to think outside of 1950s logic.
Yeah unfortunately theres a lot of transphobes who just hate on Poison
Poison is really important to the trans gaming community though (I use community loosely, there's no like central group of us) as just a good representation of a transwoman in games. Not perfect, but still strong, attractive and not played for a cheap joke.
I think I must be some sort of masochist though, keeping on replying to topics and comment threads about this when SOOO much of the internet gaming scene is awkward horny dudebros.
I hate dudebro type people.. i mean.. theres no way no one would refuse to tap Poisons ass.. no way..
Hell, considering her.. origins.. she'd probably be up for more uh.
I probably shouldnt finish that sentence xD
If she is a transexual she is now a girl, if she's not she had been and is a girl.
Btw the boy side of her it's in the past. It's important no more.
