the PC version is pretty broken right now.
I would get XBL.
Online is free... you don't have to pay for an Xbox Live Gold account
PC version is fully moddable... all sorts of crazy costumes you'll never see in the console version.
And as someone who played console versions for years (and still do occasionally) I find more varied range of characters online on PC.
You can have IN-DE-STRUCTABO!! modded into EVERY SINGLE MENU AND STAGE.
360 has better message options, this is a plus (and sometimes a minus depending on your opponent)
if you have a computer that run this game in max settings, and you have patience to wait until they fix you should get pc version, if you no have patience get 360 because 360 is the Second best version, for now is the best until they fix pc (sorry for poor english)
Anyway OP, I too would strongly urge avoiding the PC version. First of all, online play is completely broken as you can see from the posts on this forum. Second, there is always the risk that Capcom will pull a SFxT with USF4 on the PC. This is their flagship product so I would hope not! But the fact is that they also claimed to be aware of SFxT's network problems.
My suggestion: IF you're going to get USF4 then get it for a console. Either console should be fine if my experience the other day was any indication.
Definitely do NOT buy the PC version at this time. Wait for a patch and keep an eye on these forums, but do not spend money on the PC version of this game. If you can't eventually get both - and you simply can't wait to get it - then skip the PC version altogether.
With that said, if and when Capcom gets around to fixing these problems then the PC version will once again easily be the best version of the game.
