PC or 360?
Are there any benefits of buying this on PC [steam] as opposed to the xbox 360 version? Which should I get?

Playing online with the steam version right now is a bad idea. A lot of people are experiencing lag and freezing. Though when you do get a good connection, it works amazingly well. If you can wait for the net code to be fixed, I'd say go with PC. If not, then go with the 360. Also, there are more players on 360; and for the most part, the better players are also found on the 360.

Not much of a PC gamer if that's even a debate for you. Though I guess I'll point out that there's better graphics and a wider range of supported controllers. I hear people griping on all platforms about poor multiplayer lag at the moment so not really sure if there's much of a difference there. And while I'm not sure how much you care for online competition it's always going to be a lot more competitive on PC where you have more geeks and less children.

If You have an opportunity to get it on xbox or ps3- do it. DO NOT even hesitate. it's completely unplayable here- on steam. it is lagging even in practice mode. 100 % HORRIBLE !!!!!!

PC version does have nicer graphics and higher resolution though.

PC version is cheaper (in your case since you're not doing the upgrade)

Online is free... you don't have to pay for an Xbox Live Gold account

PC version is fully moddable... all sorts of crazy costumes you'll never see in the console version.

If you have a decent rig you can skip/shorten a lot of load times/VS screens offline. Consoles versions, particulary PS3, are a bit lengthier.

And as someone who played console versions for years (and still do occasionally) I find more varied range of characters online on PC.

You can have IN-DE-STRUCTABO!! modded into EVERY SINGLE MENU AND STAGE.

360 has better message options, this is a plus (and sometimes a minus depending on your opponent)

The PC version has mods, not sure about the 360.

360 is more consistent but for me personally, PC online feels way better. They should get it fixed soon tho, since someone showed them the issue.

well for now x360>ps3>pc, pc is the better but since gfwl close they are making a new netcode and for now it sucks you can much people getting lag :/ before this patch is pc>360>ps3.
if you have a computer that run this game in max settings, and you have patience to wait until they fix you should get pc version, if you no have patience get 360 because 360 is the Second best version, for now is the best until they fix pc (sorry for poor english)

No way. 360>PS3<PC. PS3 will never be better than PC no matter how broken it is. It runs 58fps even.

I can hardly understand what you typed, but I get what you're saying. Still cannot agree. I have friends who play on PS3 and they thought PC was still better during AE2014 steam.

With the exception of Skullgirls, fighting games are always better on consoles.

There was a console patch just a few days ago or so. I'm not sure what they fixed, but thankfully it seems to have dressed the worse part of the PS3's input latency / performance problem. Now that I can actually play USF4 I am getting my arse kicked. Getting used to these changes and the new characters is about equal parts fun and frustrating. Sometimes more the latter.

Anyway OP, I too would strongly urge avoiding the PC version. First of all, online play is completely broken as you can see from the posts on this forum. Second, there is always the risk that Capcom will pull a SFxT with USF4 on the PC. This is their flagship product so I would hope not! But the fact is that they also claimed to be aware of SFxT's network problems.

My suggestion: IF you're going to get USF4 then get it for a console. Either console should be fine if my experience the other day was any indication.

Definitely do NOT buy the PC version at this time. Wait for a patch and keep an eye on these forums, but do not spend money on the PC version of this game. If you can't eventually get both - and you simply can't wait to get it - then skip the PC version altogether.

With that said, if and when Capcom gets around to fixing these problems then the PC version will once again easily be the best version of the game.
