Playing USF4 vs SSF4:AE online
SO!
I've asked this before, but not had any response.
We already know that Ultra is essentially DLC for SSF4:AE. The title ID is the same, it will not have a different entry on steam.
We know that it will not be compatible, so someone playing Ultra will not be able to play against someone playing AE.
This is fine, HOWEVER.....
Will there be a way to turn off the ultra dlc, and start the game up as SSF4:AE again.
This is important to me as I know several people who will not be upgrading, and I dont want to lose the ability to play with them - I even had a spare key for AE ready to add to my account, however, with the news about the title ID, this is not going to help.

Any information about this? I've looked everywhere I can think of but not found anything.

Did some checking with someone who has ultra on console, apparently there is no switching back to super in-game and it appears you'd have to delete the ultra upgrade folder to play ae'12 people for the pc version. As far as I know there's no way to stop Steam from downloading missing files when you start a game, so... probably not, unfortunately. (Unless you can skip auto downloading by launching the game directly outside of Steam, not sure if that'd work)

I think Steam actually has an option where you can disable DLC for a game without having to delete it.

Oh, yeah, I see I can simply untick my costumepack in the dlc tab there. Maybe that's the ticket then?

@Scrub - checked and there is a place to disable the installation of dlc's, but not just disable them.
I get why they've combined ultra and AE into a single title ID, it's just the repurcussions are sucky!

When you play online the game does a version check and only shows results as such. I think they took away playing with earlier versions because Edition Select is going to be a feature online in the retail. The only way to play AE is to disable the Ultra DLC most likely.

So i'll have to uninstall the Ultra DLC every time I want to play with the guys who dont yet have Ultra? Come on Capcom! Really?!?
Anyone else running up against this?
