How is it compared to SF Alpha 3?
I got Alpha 3 max and this game but I am leaning towards alpha 3 just because of the art style and the game modes. How is this game compared to Alpha 3? The only thing that really stops me from loving alpha 3 are the controls. Unfortunately for some reason we don't get the PSN version of alpha 3 on Australia but only the psp version.

I have all three Alpha games including the PSP version. You could say that it's like Super Street Fighter II and the Alpha series had a baby and it's named Ultra Street Fighter IV.

44 characters in IV. It's cheap on Humble Bundle and Steam Summer sale is coming up as well.

Got it back when Humble had their summer encore. It is actually good and kinda feel like SF2 and Alpha together. Only downside here is the lack of modes compared to alpha 3 max. Other than that it is pretty solid and has a good number of character pool. Worth the $7.50

Alpha 3 Max was probably one of my favorites play wise and has some of the highest replay value in the series just for all the modes...but it was not great story-wise, balance-wise or for music and background art. For music, stories and background design A2 actually beat it in many ways. IV excells in balanced characters, fun stories, great music and high replay value. I do not like the art style in either IV or V as much as III which was the best in my opinion. It is a lot closer to SF3 on the technical skill side but SF3 remains the best for pure skill level matches. IV is a solid entry though...liking it WAY more than V. V isn't a game its a microtransaction shill for Capcom, with IV we at least got a complete game with playabilty and intuitive controls. It was good for all skill levels. V in every regard feels 30% finished and in 2 years has not gotten better. If I rate the Main 8 games from best to worst my opinion is: SF3, SFIV, SFA3, SFA2, SF2, SFA1, SFV, SF1...That might change in the future if they fix 5...but after 2 years I'm not counting on it. Hands down I play A3 the most just because of the portable factor. I play IV the most after that...well at least until recently.

played countless hours across this and A3, at the moment leaning toward A3 as its a good time killer whilst travelling (PSP) plus on fightcade its awesome despite the missing characters from A3 max. USF4 online I used to love but its gone a bit down hill since SFV came out.

I prefer SFA3, mainly because it has World Tour Mode and because the game does not get frustratingly cheap when you reach the final boss. SFA4 lacks anything like World Tour Mode and has the cheapest boss in any Capcom fighting game.
