wasn't this announced like 2 months ago? What's new about this post now?
I am actually looking forward to this more than the Valve Dekard, Being wired isn't an issue for me, I already have the base stations and the controllers. I have 3 different headsets in my house and they all weigh more than they should making my neck and head hurt after a few hours of use. I would gladly pay $1k for a headset custom built for me if it means I could stay in VR longer.

Or they don't want to waste $1k on a headset alone lmao stfu
I was hyped when I first saw this because it sounded like a great idea, while it also seemed like it wouldn't be super expensive since it's only a headset and all the power is coming from your computer, but when I saw the price... jeez.

$1000 is an insane price when you consider that it won't even work without controllers and base stations. That means you can go ahead an add on about $580. Assuming you already have a good PC and don't need to buy one, the total comes out to $1580 before shipping and taxes.

Why buy this when you could buy the Index for the same price, but it also comes with base stations and controllers included? Are we really entertaining the idea that custom IPD and prescription lenses are worth that much money?

I'd much rather have an IPD adjuster and buy my own prescription lenses if needed. I already have 20/20 vision. Is the headset going to be cheaper since I don't need that feature? Oops, never mind about the prescription lenses, those aren't included in the $1000! You have to pay $80 for them!

A fully custom, light, pvcr headset sounds like a great idea on paper, but if this is what you have to pay to get one, I think most sane people would rather have the headset be slightly heavier and have one size fits all IPD. I would absolutely buy this if it was fairly priced.

Edit: just some more info from their website. The minimum requirements for this headset includes an RTX 2070 or AMD RX 5700 XT. So if you don't meet this requirement, then be ready to fork over another $350-$400. Most pcvr players will already have this, but there are definitely some out there who do not.

Price is insane. The quest can do wireless pc and uses no cameras...how you gonna charge this price and be a step back when it comes to those features. A fair price for this would be another 300 or so more than the quest. Even if i wanted to spend my money on this I would most likely just resell it and continue using my quest 2 because it's wireless. If I'm gonna spend more money than what the quest cost then it simply needs to be better in every way...it can't be better in some ways but worse in other ways that's just ridiculous.

Wow! This was unexpected!! Congrats team and I wish you the best into your VR endeavor! Looking forward to trying it out.
Saw that price and instantly forgot about it.
Only 90 degree FoV for $1000?? Are you guys idiots? Even 100 degrees is unacceptable. It needs to be 115 degrees MINIMUM or there's nothing to talk about.

Hey buddy make sure you read about it and watch the videos included before you post non-credible nonsense. The measurements are higher then 90 degrees.

I swear Steam forums are some of the worst forums on the internet. Resorting to name calling is unacceptable.

Innovation should be celebrated not trolled.
Cool idea, but $1000 is a ridiculous price point given it can't function on its own.

Is this why we never got a friend's list in Bigscreen? Y'all running out of money?

1000 dollars for what? it being small??? who cares about its size, as if you cant travel with other headsets (the only reason size would matter), ive travelled fine with my quest 2. Also have fun toting around base stations and trying to get that to work, while the quest 2 is just turn on and play, and I can play games natively or with a PC.
the psvr 2 is ~600 usd, and the quest 2 is ~400 usd, by the way.
cant believe people still buying the index....
but like what about ppl with glasses
It's 1000$ in the US, and if it would be 1000$ here I might even consider it. This HMD without any audio solution packed in, or basestation and controller cost you 1369€ in the EU. That's 1490$ and pretty sure you need to pay customs and taxes on top. So this little thing would cost you:
HMD: 1490$
Customs: 407$
Taxes: 260$
makes 2.157$ in total

Since the store page has no FAQ or something I can't be 100% sure taxes and customs are already included but even if so... way too much to import that thing compared to the 999$.
