Bigscreen crashing (codecs)

So after bigscreen not showing video or the sound of my mkv movie, I decided to download k-lite codec pack. After its installation, bigscreen just crashes on startup. Any tips on how to fix this now? Reinstallation of the game didnt help

Bigscreen does not ship with any codecs or filters built in, but instead makes use of what your operating system supports.

*If you are getting errors playing a file, or no audio, it is likely because your video is using an unsupported codec.*

In Windows, at the base level, there is support for the following filetypes:
".mp4", ".m4a", ".avi", ".mkv", ".asf", ".mpg", ".mpeg", ".mpe", ".mpv", ".m2v", ".m4v", ".ogv", ".ogg", ".ogm", ".mov", ".webm", ".wma", ".wmv"

On PC, video codecs supported include DV Video, h.264, h.263, MJPEG, MPEG-4 Part 2, MPEG-4 v1/v2/v3, and WMV. Audio codecs supported include μ-law, ADPCM, AAC, MP3, GSM 6.10, and WMA. Additional codecs may be supported depending on what codec packs you have installed.

If it is just crashing, then you may have an issue with a codec installed. Since you said it started when you downloaded the K-Lite codec pack, I would start with uninstalling it and seeing if that fixes the crashing.
