In general, you can have a cinema type screen virtually with big-screen, that simply mirrors your main screen. If you have the space and money to build a proper home cinema, i'd go with that instead, but if you are space limited or don'T want to invest hundreds to thousands for high quality home cinema, it might be viable and worth it.
The Quest 2 and 3 can be quite heavy, and holding half a kilo on your head for 2-3 hours is pretty uncomfortable, especially when you're lying down and not engaging in any intense movements. Their headset is perhaps one of the lightest on the market (four times lighter than Quest 2/3).
Additionally, their headset boasts higher resolution and OLED displays, which are crucial for richer colors and a vibrant picture, ultimately the key when watching movies.
It might sound like an advertisement, but if I had the money right now, I'd definitely swap out my Quest 2 for these, especially considering I'm also a huge cinema maniac.
I enjoy watching some TV shows on my Quest 3. Toss them on 4XVR app, and enjoy scaling to the size of screen you want. Pass through or void so it's all black is nice. What I enjoy is watching BluRay or even 4K content at a giant screen, about the size of theater or iMAX. You get a chance to take in more detail than what you could just watching on a TV or mobile device.
All that said, I enjoy the visual quality of the Quest 3, but I love the color/contrast of my Vive Pro with Gear VR Lens mod.
If only we could get PSVR2 on PC, seems like that would be the sweet spot for all this.
Granted it's all tethered, so if you're looking for un-tethered, Quest 3 is what I would recommend with a little power brick to help you get through a 3 hour movie.
thx for your tip about PSVR2,
